I'm voting for McIvor, if only for the fact that he might get some much needed infrastructure finally built here in the deep SE

I saw Kent Hehr on BT this morning. Very unimpressed, it seems he went to the Jack Layton school of answering questions.

Exactly, the problem with our city is we are not encouraging sprawl enough. Hopefully the SE LRT will get built quickly under McIvor's watch and we can finally annex Okotoks and get moving towards Black Diamond and steal their cheese.

No he won't, because he hates taxes and infrastructure doesn't build itself.

Such as what? You have 4 lane Deerfoot with overpasses, the RR is underway, Marquis of Lorne was twinned over the Bow, 52nd is under construction, there's a hospital being built in your backyard, and there's every store and service within a 5 minute drive. The only thing you SE guys are missing is an LRT line, and a wall to keep that prairie wind from blowing the shingles off your roofs.

Let's see, what makes more sense.....building up billion dollars worth of infrastructure around Tyler in the "deep" south that only a few people get to use.....or having people like Tyler live closer in (no deep, just south!), so there's no need to build any new infrastructure (and we have money to improve the existing system that many more people utilize anyway)?

I always find it funny how people move out to the frackin Montana border, and then complain that there aren't enough roads/bridges around them. The more Calgary stretches out the more the city keeps wasting it's money just to mantain these people. Imagine the LRT/Bridges/roads we could have if the city was half the footprint it is now.

Not everyone wants to live in dumpy overpriced 50-100 year old homes close to the inner city.

If they want to accept my taxes as a citizen of their city, then provide me with infrastructure.

Whether I live across the street from city hall, or out here in Cranston, I'm a Calgarian. I deserve the same amenities as you whiney, self-righteous inner city people, who do nothing but bitch about people who live in the 'burbs.

I pretty much just want the SE LRT to be fast-tracked, which McIvor has been a strong advocate of.

Just a question to all of you in the copperfield area. Is McIvor road actually named after Blinky? If so, that's really sleazy. I absolutely hate the man and would seriously look into leaving Calgary if he won the election.

It's Ric McIver, not McIvor.

It can't be named after Ric McIver since it is a different spelling. Unless someone screwed up and it hasn't been corrected.

What if someone else promises it? I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more than one candidate do so. I'm interested in the project as well. We should know more sometime in July. City administration was directed to prepare a report on alternative funding options for the project (basically look into how to apply the Canada Line model), and they are to report back to council in July. After that, platforms should become more clear regarding the SE LRT.

Also, I wonder if anyone will propose the Stephen Avenue Subway.
