Wow that trailer totally swayed me to pick this up. The online sounds much improved. I love the new little modes that force you into unique situations (like having one bullet). Kind of reminds me of old school goldeneye when you'd just play with pistols.
This game made Call Of Duty fun again for me. from the 2 hours or so of play time last night one thing that I really noticed was the sounds from the surrondings. makes it much more difficult to just camp around listening for enemies. I havent had that much fun playing CoD probably since CoD4.
also the maps themselves are really detailed with lots of nooks and corners and places to hide. not many wide open spaces of death (wasteland on MW2)
Did curse when I got killed by a stupid RC with C4 haha.

I used to play tons of CounterStrike online, and I have been wanting to get into FPS on the console for quite some time. It's just quite a transition from using a mouse to an analog stick to aim. I would immediately become the n00b that I used to despise.
This game might just pull me back into online FPS. Looks quite stunning.

I was the same way when I first got the 360. It takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun. However, there are always peope 10x better than me who kill me right away.
I wasnt going to get this game until I saw some of the new features.
Having said that, I didn't realize it was based in Vietnam. Is that the whole game or just a portion of the single playeR?

I agree. I enjoyed MW2 for maybe a month or so and then got bored and went back to CoD4. However, I really enjoyed the 2 hours or so I played last night much more than anytime I played MW2. To be honest, I was expecting more of the same, and just bought the game because it meant more maps, but I was impressed. I can't put my finger on what it is, but I like it much more than MW2.

Man, this is encouraging considering the giant crapfest World at War was. As long as guys don't glitch under the map and release the dogs every 10 seconds, I'll be cool.
So as someone who has never played any of the Call of Duty games where is a good place to start? The first one? Does it still stand up today? Or is there a better one to start with? I just noticed that the older ones are a 1/3 of the cost of this one and CODMW2 (for obvious reasons).
I was playing tonight on the roomie's 360, and I've gotta say I'm not sold on the game yet. The campaign is fun, but it almost feels like Treyarch substituted gore for a storyline (although I guess MW2 wasn't great story-wise either).
We ran into a stupid glitch today too. In the first mission after you kill Castro's double, one of the guys you work with got caught in a box and couldn't move. We tried everything to get him out, but ended up just having to restart the mission. Lame.

Decent game so far, but man oh man does this game bring out some serious losers online. The game is less than 24 hiurs old and some of these guys have Class 50 ratings already.nothing fun about dying every two seconds. Wish the server would put these guys in the same lobbies.

The only big knack I have on this game is that the M16 is the only burst gun in the game.... Wish they would of stuck the FAMAS as a burst gun instead of being a automatic. Other than that, the game is probably the most balanced COD game as I can remember. Killstreaks aren't overpowered, which is a great thing. Knifing is fair but at times as be questionable... meaning that if the guy knifing you as bad latency he'll basically 'commando' knife you... ran into this a couple of times. Shotties are crap compared to the ones in MW2, and Sniper rifles, not many people use them since they are much more difficult to use than in MW2 imo. Recoil on the guns are higher than MW2 also which imo is good.
Game is AWESOME, enormous improvement on MW2. There aren't any really horrendous maps to play on (like Wasteland or Afghanistan in MW2). Lots of "war torn cities with tons of buildings to run around in" type maps (those are my favorites). Killstreaks aren't nearly as overpowered anymore.
Oh and the RC car is a blast. Put on your Hardline perk and get one of those suckers with a two kill streak is a great time, especially on tiny maps like Nuketown.
