I was sitting in a doctor's office earlier this morning leafing through a recent TIME Magazine when a small article appeared indicating Mountain Dew is the worse soda pop for your teeth enamel while A&W root beer has virtually no effect on your enamel because it has few preservatives.
Here is the study they were citing I think, not the article itself. Interesting reading in this thread!!

Orangina is also a favourite. I was drinking that stuff loooong before it reached the shelves of Safeway etc. Also when I was in Italy recently I tried there big brand version called "Fanta". I believe it just hit the USA. The orange Fanta is really good....

Fanta soda pop comes in several flavours they've been around since the 40's. It has been in North America for a long time. I remember drinking it here in the early 80's. Lately it has begun made a strong comeback in the states.

Vernors Ginger Ale.. only place I can find it is in Souther Ontario, I think it's made in Michigan, so it's brought over the border.. best ginger-ale ever made, the stuff is bloddy addictive. I can't wait to have some when I go East in 5 days..
Mmmm Vernors

I hardly ever drink pop, however when I'm in the USA I try and drink a can of this stuff.
Good call Kermit. I did not think any one ever knew about this. I guess you cannot put anything past CP'ers. [/b][/quote]
Vernors is awesome. We buy as much as possible to bring back to Calgary whenever we are in Southern Ontario. I have found it in weird places in the States before as well.

I don't drink much pop unless it's mixed with booze (and in that case it's usually coke) but Vanilla Coke is by far my favorite. When it first came out I was buying it buy the case-load from the Real Canadian Superstore. It's not around as much anymore so I always buy it up when I see it.

trying to get away from it, but I love Coca Cola. Pepsi is a bad word at my house, it's been well over a decade since I've had one.

we think alike. If there's no other option I will, but Pepsi is a bad BAD word in my house.
After a camp my brother went to a number of years back, we were walking out of the local Walmart, it was a hot day, and I said "I could really use a nice cold coke now" my brother said "or even better an ice cold pepsi" I proceeded to tear into him in the middle of the parking lot. He's now in the indifferent "I don't really drink pop" category or "whatever's there"
and like you, I should stop drinking it as much as I do... oh well time to put two cans in my backpack before work.....

There is a law in Canada that only dark-coloured soft drinks may contain caffeine. I have no idea why. Maybe because drugs are evil and black is the colour of evil.
As for people like jonpatterson who get hot and bothered about Coke being better than Pepsi, it would seem as though the media branding machine has had its way with you. The two products are so similar that any major difference you perceive is largely a result of secondary factors such as advertising, history, or packaging. It is pretty clear for any disinterested individual on Earth that, product-wise, Coke and Pepsi are near identical.

I don't care one lick about advertisements or anything like that... but I can tell a major difference between Coke and Pepsi. Their really isn't anything in it for me pretending their isn't a different.. but for me their is.
But ya Jon, you need to get out more.. don;t freak out at people for choosing a different soft drink.. go out and raise up your "going to hell" rating that was posted a week ago.

I won't deny that there is a difference in taste between the two. But for me it is very minor, such that I don't really care whether I have one or the other. Perhaps others have much more sensitive chemoreceptors in their taste buds than I do.

For me it depends my mood. I like both colas pretty equally. I will say one difference I notice between Coke and Pepsi is it you have too much. If I have too much coke my teeth feel dirty

When I was a kid I would not drink Pepsi no matter what you would do to try and force me. Now I will drink Pepsi but only if there's no Coca-Cola. Coke just tastes way better IMO. Screw the rigged taste challenge they did.
