I wouldn't characterize it as a big sandwich, no. Relative to other American fast food sandwiches it isn't "big". It isn't small, either. I'd label it a medium sized sandwich.

I didn't feel short-changed in terms of size, weight or "fillingness". In that sense it was simply satisfying. With the right sides, it could make for a well-rounded meal, IMO. I felt like the saltiness factor got out of hand with the fries and biscuits I also ordered... I'd just go with the sandwich next time. I had the original recipe version, so I definitely wouldn't add salty sides to the grilled version, if it's indeed even saltier.

I had one in the States a couple years ago. They are delicious and great bang for your buck (I think they were $3 IIRC).

This was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever had. And I mean, I've had freakin Arby's.

Just don't do it.

Those bowls do look a little bit gross, but Arby's plain roast beef sandwhiches are the best thing ever (well possibly behind cold KFC).

I don't trust mashed potatoes at KFC. There's no way that crap isn't powdered.

I went and got one for lunch. I don't normally eat fast food, and I try to watch what I eat generally, but I just couldn't help myself. I had to jump on the double down bandwagon.

It was fracking delicious. And it'll give me the quick energy I need for hockey tonight!

Krispy Kreme Donuts as the bun.

With all the KFC Double Down hype recently (from the Double Double Down to the Quad Down and more) we knew we had to one-up all the madness that is this meat monster of a sandwich. What to do? Well the choice is obvious. Take the infamous Double Down and the fabled Luther Burger and make the KFC & Krispy Kreme Fried Chicken Luther Double Down Sandwich.

So what you've got here is one tasty mother of a sandwich that starts with a half Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut, extra Colonel's Sauce (gotta get in those added calories where you can), fried chicken breast, Colonel's Sauce, cheese slice, bacon, cheese slice, fried chicken breast and other half doughtnut.

Because it's delicious? It's no different from mashed potatoes with less than a teaspoon of shredded cheese, a side of corn, and some fried chicken (less than a single piece of actual KFC) and gravy. It's just in a bowl and easier to eat!

I would love one right now!

So contrary to popular belief, this thing isn't as unhealthy as most think. In fact, when compared to other fast food offerings, it isn't so bad.

McDonald’s Big Mac: 540 calories — exactly the same number as the Double Down.

I'm surprised we haven't heard about this more. The Double-Down is the same as a Big Mac and people chow down on those things like crazy. Maybe they think the lettuce and thousand island sauce is like sald.

The Double-Down provides more solid white meat protein too while the Big Mac is fully of fatty ground beef from who knows where.
