That is exactly what they needed, why didn't somebody think of this before........cripes.
One thing B Sutter is not, is unemotional.

Just a fine for Playfair, no suspension.

JeffMarek Jim Playfair coach of the Abbotsford Heat fined for his outburst Saturday vs Hamilton. Not suspended. He'll coach tonight vs Manitoba Moose

Playfair's finest moment. Can't help but think that we should bring him back and let him take a group of younger players through a rebuild. Who's going to cross him after this? As soon as the jacket comes off you better sit down and shut up.

There's a big difference between emotion that shows that you care about your players and emotion that makes it look like you hate them.
I don't want to derail such a beautiful thread though. That freakout was amazing and nearly justified. What a horrible call.

I was working out at the gym today and they played this on CNN. Playfair is now an international celebrity!

This could be good for a boost in Abbotsford attendance. Some non-hockey people (do you have those up there?) might want to come out and see their local celebrity.

Is it just me, or does he look a bit like Alan Rickman, the main bad guy in Die Hard?

At least someone in the Flames/Heat organization showed some emotion and actually cared about winning!
Way to go Jim!

That's what happened when an idiot referee try to control the game. I don't know what Referee Jamie Koharski was watching but even a peewee referee can tell that collision is not even close to intent to injure and does not deserve a major penalty. The game was only 2-0 when he made that bad call. I would flip too if I was Playfair. I don't understand why some people were questioning how come Playfair didn't react that way when he was coaching here in Calgary. The answer.... because he didn't have to put out with some dumb-a^% referee like Koharski. I sure hope the league study that film and try to figure out why Koharski called a major penalty. Then if they prove that he was wrong, he should get suspended. I am not going to be surprise if Playfair gets suspended or get fined on that tantrum BUT I think he's got all the reasons why.

He won't be back til the core is gone. They didn't respect or fear him nearly enough (according to an old player).

The penalty may have something to do with Watt not having an angelic reputation, but still it was a bad call.

i think jimmy playfair might land in edmonton......
young team.....more receptive to a new coach.
after all he has had success at the AHL level, and the oilers are basically an AHL team (talent wise)

Meh on the joke, really never thought I would say this but Oilers jokes are becoming stock.
Also he has a division title under his belt as a head coach in the NHL so, I think that would qualify him more for an open head coach position in the NHL IMO.

No he doesn't. The Flames finished 3rd in the division when Playfair was head coach.

Had an idea!

I actually like him coaching the Heat.
Give him a few more years down there as a head coach. Then bring him back up to coach many of the players he brought into professional hockey down there.
