weird story that a hard drive is required to play Halo Reach coop. Don't think it'll affect too many people, since i assume most Halo fans will already have a harddrive and not be playing on an arcade sku.

I love the new matchmaking.
Last night on blood gulch I picked up the sniper and my first 8 shots in the rifle were head shots....Lets just say by the end of the game things had gotten a bit ridiculous. I think I finished with 16 headshots with the sniper and over 40 kills. Whatever they did to change how the sniper works, SIGN ME UP. BOOM HEADSHOT.

I also noticed (it may have been in previous Halo's), but the bullet length really takes effect now. Not like Battlefield two where the bullets drop, but if your shooting someone far away you have to slightly aim to where they are going. I'm pretty sure it was in previous halo games but it is really visible in Reach. I love it.

It was very relavent in each Halo series, it just seems to be more fine tuned in Reach.
I've just gotten so used to aiming a little bit further in front of people.

I just finished the campaign on normal. What a great game...I loved every second of it. I've played every Halo and this campaign was probably the most enjoyable for me.
I'll wait until more of you finish it before discussing the story. Make sure you watch the credits until the end.

I am sure they'll have a "Legendary" ending again too, where it will differ from the normal one, slightly.
I'm going to be doing it with weekend, so we can discuss then.
Funny story. When Halo 3 came out back 3 years ago, I was in grade 12. I beat the game on Legendary by Thursday and during English class I was talking to my friends about it and my teacher overheard me, and then said "if you spoil the ending, I will fail you right here."
He was dead serious too, he is as big if not bigger nerd then me when it comes to video games, he has 1000/1000 gamerscore on a ton of games, does those achievements like "get all the flags in AC1/2", etc. I know because he is on my friends list, haha.
During the "job fair" me and like 4 of my friends spent the entire time (2+ hours) having a discussion with him on various games. Definitely one of my coolest teachers.

Beat it on Legendary last night. Very fun. Initially it took me a while to settle into the game, because it didn't quite feel like Halo at first. I think the biggest thing was getting used to the graphics upgrades, as the Covenant themselves looked and moved quite differently from previous iterations. I also need to figure out a few things from the story.
Once I got into it, I loved it. It brought in all my favourite aspects of all the Halo games, and I can't wait to play it again a little more slowly and really explore the levels, and apply my scorched earth policy of killing everything.
Took a spin in Forge World last night, and it is much improved from Halo's 3 version. It's a lot easier to manipulate and place objects precisely. I'm not huge into the creation side of thing, but I was having fun building a base and lining up as many vehicles as I could.

Has anyone beat the campaign on legendary yet? Holy moly, I am just on the 3rd mission now (Sword Base) and I am getting raped, repeatedly.
Trying to kill two Hunter's while a Elite and 2 grunts are also shooting you, took me like 30 minutes.

For those that have beat the campaign already, how great was it not having to deal with the Flood?

Agreed. I was talking to a buddy of mine, and that was one of the things I mentioned. No Flood. Thank goodness. But, that should come as no surprise, as I don't recall any Flood in the "Fall of Reach" novel.

I don't get one thing, I'll leave it in white just in case
in Halo 3 at the start Cortana has that speech on why she chose MC, in Reach Cortana Chooses Noble 6. I would have thought he would have survived then, I'm going to wait for some nerd to find the alternate ending to figure it out. I assume even though no one found it yet, there has got to be some sort of alt ending

i'm just taking a guess but:
Why would cortana not be able to choose multiple spartans, like one to ensure the safety of her getting off the planet, and then another for the halo 3. I don't see how they would be able to do an alternate ending on that because then only some people get it, and with it being such a major part i don't see that being the case

Pretty sure that was supposed to be a nod towards what was mentioned in Halo 3 and that was a nod towards Cortana's choice in the novel.
By the way, if you haven't read 'The Fall of Reach', I suggest picking it up if you're interested. It tells the story better than Halo:Reach does.

Well I stayed up a little bit too late last night....I'm still finishing up the legendary campaign, and got into it with two hunters in the middle of a courtyard for freaking ever.
I had to stop and go to bed, but I'm saved right before having to go up to the big gun, which I would assume is the end of the game.
I really like the gameplay, and they made legendary feel like a solid accomplishment to complete. Usually in matchmaking I'm all run and gun, but campaign really makes you slow it down and methodically pick things apart which is a bit of a change. I'm finding that I'm getting pretty sick at shooting through the hole in the Jackal shield, and then headshotting it immediately after.
Good times, should be able to finish up the campaign tonight, and then get back to sniping kids

On another note, I love Bungie's daily/weekly challenges, and it that sort of thing that makes the game so addicting. No other multiplayer game is is serviced in the same way once it's sold.

When I saw that there was an achievement for beating Reach on Legendary alone I said to myself 'Well, that's a good way to find out who's cheating and who isn't.'
I jest, of course, but after what I went through to beat Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran, I think I'll sit out Halo: Reach on Legendary - Solo.

It isn't that hard on Legendary to be honest. There are a few fights that definitely require a bit of skill and timing to get through, but I never had a moment where I felt that no matter what I did there was no way through. I think the big thing is getting checkpoints whenever you can to save your progress.
