That reminds me of when I went to New York this summer.

We called the airline because there was a problem, or something, with our flight booking and it said press 1 for domestic and 2 for int'l.

Of course we pressed 2.

Nope. They consider Canada to be a domestic flight. We had a good laugh over that one.

This is probably what you're talking about - for convenience, the major Canadian airports have U.S. customs preclearance - calgary, edmonton, halifax, montreal, ottawa, winnipeg, toronto and vancouver. So any flights bound for one of these Canadian airports is considered 'domestic' and can utilize domestic gates at U.S. airports. This is really helpful cause you're less likely to have to switch terminals at a bigger airport in the States.

I'm always slightly offended when I hear sweeping generalizations about "Americans" being made...but really only slightly, because such generalizations only show the ignorance of the person speaking.

Canada, the U.S. and Mexico all carry such cultural diversity within their borders (like most countries), that it really is difficult to say just what it is that makes a person Canadian, Mexican or American...other than the obvious, which is what borders they reside in.

I've had the luxury of living close to both the U.S./Canadian border and also the Mexico/U.S. border at different times in my life...and have traveled and made friends amongst all three countries.

Predictably, you will often find that people that live along the borders of two countries often have a greater understanding of the neighboring country. I think you would find that many Americans living in Maine, Michigan, N. Dakota, Minnesota, etc. are generally pretty knowledgable about Canada...just as you find many people living in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California (Southern), etc. fairly knowledgable about Mexico.

I'll end this rant on the obvious...you're going to find ignorant jerks (no, not me) no matter where you travel in this world...and if you haven't figured that out yet, you haven't been doing much traveling. There's also a lot of great people the world over, so spend your time trying to find them instead of the other.

So NBC has decided to remove this video, anyone know where I can find a downloadable copy on the net?

Sort of off topic, but when I was traveling in Europe last year, I met many American tourists and never saw any that fall into the stereotype that we often hear (loud, overbearing, cheap, rude, whatever). In fact, I think without exception, every American I met was always the first to introduce themselves to us and make an effort to be cordial. There were also a couple of times where locals would ask where I was from and when I said; "Canada", they replied; "Oh, America!"...lol.

We like to bug each other in our own backyards, but in the big picture, there isn't much of a difference imo. It's just politics really, and it's a shame that so many people fall for it.

Why would they pull this? This gave them a lot of coverage. I never get why these news agencies post these things and then when they go viral, they pull them off the web claiming "copy right". Yes, it probably wasn't them that posted it on youtube but they probably got more coverage from youtube than their own network.

I got one off You Tube, and saved and converted it into VLC media player format using kick you tube.

Taylor was on the Hour at the start of the month talking about this, really interesting interview. In the interview he explains how this relationship between Canada, USA, and himself came about . . . he "technically" didn't work for the CIA . . . directly anyway.

And Trudeau almost blew the cover. Clark was PM at the time, had privately told Trudeau what was going on in the background, had asked him to lay off bringing up reference to Iran in the House of Commons and in Question Period.

But Trudeau persisted, could have gotten the whole lot of them killed if the Iranians found out.

And they wait until it gets huge and popular and talked about before pulling it. They would have known about it being on YouTube from day one, just like every other video that gets yanked.

Thanks KPJ, works great.

Spent a lot of time in Montrose, Grand Junction and Parachute as a kid. Durango is a nice town, although a bit isolated. Did you grow up there?

No problem at all. A great tribute to Canada from our neighbours to the south. Sure, you cheer for the Oilers and I cheer for the Flames, but when it comes down to it, we're still both Canadian.

That said, your team is still a wonderful sinking ship and I continue to enjoy watching it take on more and more water.

Dunno how many of you have seen his latest piece. Brokaw did an amazing job of returning back to Gander to explain exactly what that community and the country did for the US on 9/11.

Simply unbelievable what was going on for the better part of 5 days in that town of 10,000....whose population swelled to over 17,000 in the space of a day. The locals hosted and made comfortable all those who were stranded without a country to get into for that time period.

They palyed it on NBC earlier today so i dont know if its available online yet or not, but will link it if i find it....its a must watch and its quite lengthy.
