Whatever, the practical issues surrounding scamming the local Home Depot is fairly irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Sorry I was presuming that it was purchased from Home Depot to begin with.

I had a situation kinda like this....
Wifes cousin buys a new car, then writes it off within a week. I just put my Mustang Convertible up for sale for $6500. Tell him I will sell it to him for $5000 he is going to come down on weds to pick it up. I take it in to OK tire on monday to get the spare tires I have for it put on, and have them check the car over. They tell me that the rack and pinion is almost worn out, and will probally need to be replaced within a couple months. So I tell wifes cousin and agree to take an extra $500 off to help cover rack and pinion. He comes drives it, loves it, pays and takes it home.
2 weeks later he calls and says its in the shop and the whole back end is falling apart, and that we tried screwing him over and that they wont let it back out on the road and its going to need $2000 worth of work (of which some is for the rack and pinion) and he wants his money back for the car or for use to repair it.
I laughed and hung up. He drives the car for 2 weeks and does who knows what to it (probally hit a curb) and wants his money back? Plus I had a shop go through it 2 days before he bought it.
Edit: Forgot that he threatened legal action and I talked to trotman and fredr123 about it. Thanks guys.

He has posted in several other threads while this has been happening. I assumed no invitation was needed.
He is welcome to post up whenever he feels like it.

Once again maybe I'm being a little sensitive with this issue but I'd be demanding somebody got banned if they posted PMs of mine on the forum without my consent.

Maybe he doesn't read every thread?
Also posting PMs is ridiculous. Asking opinions on the situation is one thing but displaying a PRIVATE message on a public forum should be a no-no IMHO.

Sorry man, as much as I'd love to cheer from the stands of the arena watching this brawl get bloody and nasty, if I were <removed> I wouldnt be setting foot in here.
If this were an issue or something I imagine you have contact info for him, like his cell number or email, but a thread in a public forum, particularly OT rather than buy/sell or something so that we all get to watch the whole thing unfold in real time?
Honestly, I say we drop this as the buy/sell part of the forum has been a contentious issue for a while now due to ticket prices/sales as well as disagreements, and if every dispute were to get dragged across the floor of the OT forum I'm relatively certain the mods would can the whole thing sooner rather than later.
I'm sorry, this is good entertainment, but if I were on the other side of your argument and saw that you went and tried to win the battle for public opinion by posting a thread like this I'd probably tell you to get stuffed in significantly less polite terms.
What we have here is a failure to communicate. Starting this thread could be interpreted as an attempt to bully the other party into admitting some form of wrong-doing where there may be none to admit to. I wouldnt play that game either.

At this point I would cut your losses and make sure from now on when buying electronics used that you get some kind of 'warranty' from the the person or the receipt from them before completing the sale.
If he has the receipt but just doesn't want to look for it that is pretty harsh of him. I would think doing a deal with CPers would involve doing what you can for someone, but what can you do?
I'm sure there are ways if you think outside the box where you can get it replaced if the model is still available.

I having it repaired regardless. Its a good looking m-wave and goes well with my other appliances.
Hopefully it'll last a while after repair.
I guess I'm just disappointed in the whole situation. I've gotten some really good deals here on CP.
This one......not so much.

Nufy, I'm not sure what you were hoping to achieve with this type of thread, but I personally would never sell you anything after this. You probably have a point, and I agree with others, it is kinda amusing, but yeah, I wouldn't.

I just didn't want to go there. I've noticed some boxes now put the serial # on the outside to match up with the item inside.
