Ugh, I wish there was a 'Dislike' button I could click so I didn't have to post a full response to disagree with you. The confidence and experience he gains from this tournament is invaluable. Plus he gets personal recognition for his play, which I totally support.
I was so pumped that Iginla got the first goal of the tournament. That he got a hat trick is unbelievable. Everyone on here was calling for a hat trick from Iggy before the game, but I don't think anyone actually expected one! I've got tickets to the semifinal game and I'm feeling better and better that they're going to be playing in that game. I just hope that Brodeur is the goalie for that game. Even when Luongo's on my team, I hate when people shout "Looooo". It must be the Flames fan in me.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but this was Norway...a team without an active NHL player. I'll reserve judgment until they play a superior team. The result was similar against Italy in 2006 with Iggy showing "great chemistry" with Bertuzzi (obviously Crosby/Nash are much better), and we all know how that went.

Soooooo sick to see this line come together like that. Shows how dominant Iggy can still be. That second goal was magic for three guys who've played together maybe once or twice in the past. Hopefully that should silence all the damn whiners bitching about Iginla not being in "the Top 6" or any of "the Top 3 PP Units". Anyone who's posted here for any length of time should know that projected lines do not mean a damn thing during the course of a game.
You people have to realize that MIKE BABCOCK has final say on lines and knows a hell of a lot more than Bob McKenzie or functionally ######ed analysts like Pang or Kypreos. He'll recognizes how to adopt to the flow of a game and the chemistry his players have.

How long before Iginla asks for or Sutter offers to trade him to a contender? I wonder if Pittsburgh would be kicking tires.

Actually, I think McKenzie was talking about Babcocks choices about the lines. Then he put his thoughts about them.

Sutter wouldn't be a good GM if he doesn't listen to all offers. Remember we traded "Joe who?" for "Jarome who?". If it sets up our franchise for the next ten years, you have to consider it.
Even if he is a lifetime Flame and it doesn't look like we'd be a contender, I'd definitely approach him with a "Ray Bourque deal" if he wanted it.

Well, I know McKenzie is a bit more credible than most TV personalities, I wouldn't put him in the same class as Kypreos for any reason. He definitely does put his personal contributions in a lot of the time though like before the Olympic team was announced and he went on for about a minute about how Mike Richards would not be named, had played himself off the team, and his leadership was questionable after all the partying allegations out of Philly. Lost a lot of respect for him at that point.

Well IMO there's two things. First you're saying that the Flames aren't contenders. This just isn't the case. They have a chance every year, despite what some people think. This team is built to be competitive every year, without the rebuild and the pain associated.
Second, there are no plausible trades that would make sense to trade a guy like Jarome Iginla. Any net gain you make in "skill", you lose in character and identity.
It would be a sad day in Calgary if Iginla ever played with another team.

Joe who, as you call Neiwy was not the face of the Flames at that time. Fleury at that time was. Iginla and Kipper are the Flames period end of story.

NIce, I came on here to find out why they had awarded the last goal to Nash, only to find out it's back under the right guys name!
This is the line I wanted to see. I thought the would have sick chemistry and they did. Now hopefully it remains. I can see things getting switched up a lot to tell you the truth. That's just the way it works in these sorts of tournaments. You're only as good as your last shift.
But with a showing like this, it's definitely a combination they'll probably come back to a lot even if it doesn't stay 100% of the time.
Great job Iggy! Hopefully this tournament is the confidence booster he needs to really roll when he comes back home.

Good. I don't know how they could have taken it away from him in the first place. You could see the puck change direction as it passed him.
