I'm from Europe, Serbia to exact. I'm writing this from there right now. However, I moved to Calgary when I was ten (so in 2000) and moved back in 2007. It's where I fell in love with hockey and the Flames.
Now, my friends here or any people I tell that I used to live in Canada, often (always) ask me "Are you freaking insane, why the hell did you come back?!" I always tell them, and I believe this accurately describes the life in Canada/US and Europe, : "It's BETTER over there (Canada) but it's NICER here." Sure, you earn more money, have a better job and in general better standard of living in Canada but over there everythign is built recently. You know what I mean? New, hich-tech buildings, new roads, even (relatively) new cities etc. While in Serbia (and Europe in general) you don't have as many "new" stuff, but you do have more cultural memorbillia. Like old fortresses, cities etc. For example, Serbian capital Belgrade is over 700 years old. It's one of the oldest cities in Europe. So like I said, BETTER in Calgary, BUT NICER in Serbia. For me at least...

I recently made the move to London and I have also gotten the, "You moved here, why?". Especially with the UK the way I put it is, Canada provides me with the financial means to live well but Europe provides me with an enjoyable place to live. While it is nice to be surrounded by history, what I love about Europe is that the villages, towns, and cities are built for people. Yeah, it may be more expensive and have less space but it is the quality of those spaces and places (i.e. cost of living vs. quality of life). If it doesn't work out here, I'll just have to learn a new language and try a more financially stable country on the continent (I'm looking at you Germany and Denmark!).

Why not? There is a lot of people, sure, and traffic is HORRIBLE! But there are VERY nice places to visit in Belgrade.
