Yeah, so I never back into a stall but I sometimes pull through. I take the train every day (save MAYBE once every 2 months i treat myself to a drive-in). I have never seen this sign. EVER. In fact this is the first I hear of it. I have paid for parking every day for the last six months. If I get a ticket I'm going to shat bricks.

LOL! You're the one making the claim. The onus is on you back up what you are saying. Then again you must have nothing or you would have posted a link

I've made up my mind on this one.

Just because you can't do it doesn't mean that "the average driver can't back in straight". From what I can see, people have just as much trouble parking forward as backward (crooked parking, parking into the other parking spot), so I think your argument is crap.
Secondly, I am willing to bet that I can park my car backwards straighter than you can park your car forwards. They're called side-mirrors and will align you perfectly within the lines.
My pet peeve is people who don't park straight within the lines and I find most of the culprits are actually parking FORWARDS.
And what is this crap about "self-importance"? People park backwards so its easier to get out of a spot. In some lots, they MAKE you park backwards so it makes it easier for people to get out when they leave, and reduces the number of parking lot related accidents.
I don't care if people don't park backwards but as someone who usually does it, I get pissed off when people rant off against it with poor logic.

Oh hey. I'm not saying my hatred of people who back in isn't irrational. Because it is. But it's there and it's not going away.

Let the people rant. Sure, we all know that you are the perfect law abiding citizen that follows every single rule, aware of every single signage wherever you go, and god forbid, if you ever disobey anything with relation to the law.
As far as everyone knows, you are the perfect human being, never making any mistakes, and therefore, you can be on your high horse to criticize anyone who strays from the norm.
In short, get a life, you're the person that if you ever did get a ticket, you would be equally pissed off and wondering why things are so unfair towards you. As a person who is human and is prone to error from time to time, I can sympathize why the initial person with the ticket would be so upset. Sure, he should've read the sign and yes, he should've known better, but heck, we have all mistakes from time to time, and should at least have the ability to rant about it without people criticizing them about it.

Not once did I claim to be a perfect law abiding person. All I'm saying is that people shouldn't be crying about getting tickets when its printed clearly, not to do it. Speed limit 80KM, do we sometimes go over? Sure.., if we get busted are we going to complain because the sign was not big enough? Not a chance its ridiculous.
I'm not against people making mistakes at all.. We all make them, Mr.Philosopher of life. What gets me going is the people here complaining about having to pull into the stall. "Well he had to get out of his car to write the ticket, why not just do this when scanning too!" Because that's the rules, and its the quickest way for them to do their jobs. It's a very simple rule so follow it. If you don't like it go park downtown, that 3 bucks is not looking so bad now..
Its posted at the train station not to back in... POSTED. What more can people ask for? Should the city put up a billboard? "DO NOT BACK INTO STALLS!".. I seldom ride the train and the first thing I saw when I arrived was not to back into the stall.. Even if I didn't see the sign I would have seen the other 300 cars parked the same way and put two and two together.

What the hell? Backing in to a parking stall is mandatory in the driving test. Haha.

The TV media made it very clear that it is nose in parking before any lots converted back in the spring. It isn't until now they started passing out tickets. No system has changed...they are just implementing properly after handing out warning tickets up until recently

is it about being lazy or being efficient?
Maybe even a bit of both? As a taxpayer who views this as an effective user fee which I use every weekday, I think an efficient system like this is exactly what we need. If the guy had to get out of his car to check license plates it would reduce efficiencies and require more people to do the same job.
There is a reason the city of calgary is now selling this parking system to cities around the world. This was one of the few brilliant ideas they have come up with.
User fees - like photo radar, red light cams and parking are great things because they keep my taxes down

I am totally on board with your irrational hate. I asked my wife (from North Carolina) why so many back into stalls here and she claims everyone knows only a redneck would back into a stall.

I love all the holier than thou ######bags in the ticket threads. I back into my parking stall every day at work because it is easier to park in the morning and easier to leave at night. It is much safer to back into stalls. If I got one of these tickets I would fight it on my Fridays off for sure.

Just passed the sign at bridlewood, I was looking for it and barely saw it. The sign is a little less then double the size of a "no parking" sign. The sign says in large font at the top
Calgary transit parking only. One of the sub-bullets says to park in nose first. It's location makes it near impossible to read since it's as you turn into the station. Would it kill them to put up a few more signs.
Hopefully someone can take a picture. I don't have a camera on my blackberry.

Great News!
I think it is great news... I can't stand those people that back into stalls... Holding up traffic, etc...
Why are you backing in anyway??? Is it some kind of status thing for these tools??? They always seem to be the A-holes in their fancy-lame, small-penis cars with jackass attitudes... I hope they all get tickets!

If you had bothered to read the thread you would understand the reasoning, but I suppose being and ignorant pr*ck suits you better.
