fyi,
I went to Shaw today to get a new hdpvr for the second hdtv I recently got. The new Pace hdpvr just went on sale 2 days ago, and is now $398 instead of $498. Or as the girl said $250 for the receiver and $150 for the 1tb expander.

Sweetness... I'll be getting the new hdpvr then... even though I still have my 27" tube tv, haha. At that price it's worth it to get the pvr function.

The pace one with the expander is a dual tuner right?
I can't believe Telus only offers a single tuner hd pvr! hahahahahahahahaha. It is worse than a VCR.

That's right. I have a Pace box (and my own home made "expander") and I can record two at the same time, or record one and watch another.
Also - which is pretty neat, if you are recording 2 programs you can actually watch a third program from the hard drive. Maybe that's normal for other PVRs and/or I get impressed too easily...

Yes, that is normal. The Shaw Motorola dual tuners have that functionality.

works with the motorola pvr's just fine...

Ok, so let me get this right:
Rigtht now I have the Motorola HD-PVR.
So if I add on this: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...S%28ME%29.aspx I'll have more room to record? My wife can continue to record EVER episode of Two and a Half Men?
Do I need to get any cables with it or anything? Or just plug it in and go?

Yep, just call shaw and have them activate the esata port on your PVR, plug in the drive, format it and away you go...

I take it we'll need to purchase an esata cable as well?

If you get the Memory Express drive and enclosure mentioned in this thread, you'll get an eSATA cable in the box.
After calling shaw and all of that fun stuff, you may need to do a couple of power cycles to get the drive to be recognized. I'd recommend keeping them on the line until you get the format message.

Does anyone have the issue of 0% full? I know I can't be 0% as I have about 20 hours of HD programming on the PVR.
I have the memory express hard drive combo.

hey Rico
I checked the link you posted about the "0% bug." and there doesn't seem to be a fix. Yes, I read the entire thread.
So...any suggestions? I haven't picked up my drive yet, as I discovered this "bug" just before I was about to head out and get it.
Some people are saying it's the FirmWare. How do we upgrade this? Simple power cycle? Or is this "0% bug" just a bi-product of the Motorola PVRs? (HD)?
Cheers!

You can check on you box under setup which version you have - should be 16.74 already
I dont think there is a fix for it as of yet, it may or may not come out in a new firmware.
Keep your eye on that thread - they are likely to be on top of it

If anyone is interested in swapping the internal drive, I have the security bit and can format the drive to do so

I'm having a small issue with my PVR (the Pace box and the 1 TB add-on, as mentioned earlier in the thread).
Two small things are happening very intermittently. Has anyone else experienced either of these issues?:
- I'll get a message on-screen saying that the PVR is full and that I should delete some stuff, etc. etc. but I know for a fact that it is actually somwehere between 15 and 25% full. I look at the list of recorded programs and there is one item on the list (there should be 20 or 30). I unplug the box and the hard drive and after rebooting everything is back to normal. 20% full, all of my programs are in the list and are functioning.
- A couple of recorded programs show up in the list, the length of the program is correct (60 minutes, for example), so I know that it isn't a partial recording. Everything looks normal until you go to play it and it just sits there. Black screen. Programs recorded before and after that one work just fine, and there's no issues like conflicting recordings, a power outage, etc.
It probably only happens about 5% of the time, but it is still kind of annoying. Anyone have any insight? I was on the phone with shaw to cancel some of my "free for a month" movie channels before I had to start paying for them, and I asked the guy about it. He didn't really have an explanation, and just recommended power-cycling and making sure that I had the channel that I was trying to record on. I have obviously done both of those.
Just one of those things that I thought I'd float to the CP brain trust.
