Don't remember seeing this here, but rumoured launch date is November 3rd. Telus and Bell are likely keeping things VERY quiet until just days before the launch. They are undoubtedly hoping for competitive advantage against each other, and it gives Rogers less time to react before Telus and Bell launch.

I just thought I would mention that our Telus rep emailed me on Friday and said that they will be selling the BlackBerry Bold and Storm 2 in early November as well. Actually, I think the new Storm will be late November. No pricing as of yet.

I just got my email from the sign up- now to see what they will do for a guy who refuses to sign a contract. (I haven't signed a telecommunications contract this century.)

I'm always gonna be bitchin about cell service providers, but why the heck is Telus not mentioning their data plans yet? Obviously they're decided upon by now if launch is this close, but as usual, something tells me they're up to no good.

As for Ken, if you don't wanna sign a contract, would you be prepared to pony up $800? I'm not so sure I would.

They do not want to release data plans until close to the launch. They are competing directly against Bell at this launch...no need to tip your hand to the competitor.

Also, the longer they wait, the less time Rogers/Fido have to react before the Bell/Telus launch.

For the iPhone on a 3 year contract, you have to sign a minimum $50 voice/data contract...as per the fine print on the release I linked above.

The $199/$299 pricepoint is required by Apple. This isn't news, really.

The data plans are the only thing Telus has any say in, and that's where we'll finally see just how serious they really are about this whole thing.

No, but if they want that much then I will just switch to Rogers/Fido on principal. Either way it looks like the "no plan price" for Telus works out that it is cheaper to sign for 3 years and cancel 4 months in; which is what the Rogers "no plan price" is.

I should still have a $200 upgrade credit from my current phone which was sold to me as having TelusTV- I guess I'll see what happens.

This is new, they're eliminating the SAF fee and increasing the base plan rates.

They're dropping the $7.50 SAF and bumping the core plan prices by $5.00.

So, in other words, they're taking a whole $2.50 off of people's phone bills.

This is why companies are in a lose-lose situation.

If they raise the price $2.50 every is up in arms about how it adds up to this each year, and this much over a three year contract. But when they are giving it back it's just "a whole $2.50".

Exactly. That whole SAF was a complete slap in the face in the first place. How telecom companies were ever allowed to install their own personal tax is beyond me.

This "we're dropping the tax" thing will look good to most people, but the raising the core prices to cover the loss just makes it yet another typical move.

It's quite remarkable how similar this industry is to the mafia.

I'd rather see the actual price in the plan rather than an extra fee. A single cost for the product or service I am purchasing.

I wish the airlines would do this too- I could care less what the taxes and airport fees are, just give me the one price for my flight.

Bell has their rate plans up on the website. Go their for province-specific deals.

Looks like the cheapest plan is a $45/month offering with 100 anytime minutes and 500MB of data.

YAY, looks like this FINALLY went live. Bell's website says that the new network is "ON". I am so excited, hopefully the reception will get better around my house in edgemont or the HSPA network reaches my house there!

Looks like they have a coverage map online, but it's interactive and it's broken.

How about a PNG Bell?

Give it another shot. I kept getting some server error but a reload on the browser window fixed the issue.

Interesting, their 3G GSM coverage is pretty impressive actually IMO, they made a big effort in a lot of areas. Alberta's 3G GSM coverage from Bell is better than Rogers.

The only thing they have in Saskabush is what leaks over the border lol.
