yeah, the main character is a bit of an odd choice for a 'blockbuster'...would put him more in a romantic comedy...lol

Looks like another possibly succesful attempt at "biggest special effects ever". I'm thinking we might soon reach the point where you can't really "top" previous films simply by upping the scale.
(Like you can't make music essentially more "louder" or "heavier" than what's done before, just "different kind of loud", if even that.)
I have not seen the others, but Crash was a great movie, No Country For Old Men was solid also.
Im looking forward to this movie, although its rated PG 13..so we will see how good it ends up being.
Crash is probably my least favorite in that entire list, what a boring movie. all it essentially does is say "People are still racist" for 2 hours. at about the 30 minute mark i just wanted a voice over to say "Get ON with it" and then "And now for something completely different", then maybe cut to a skateboarding dog or something. would have gave the same message and saved 90 minutes i wish i had back

Crash was awful. But then again the masses are too stupid to understand thematic film without it being shoved right in their faces. Which is why most people think Crash was great.
Sadly CNN has to 'rebuke' 2012 by interviewing a brilliant astro physicist.
Neil deGrasse Tyson:
I want to punch that chick who keeps laughing in the background. So annoying.

I agree about Crash. Although I wonder if it's just cultural differences. The Academy is US based and I think we just don't understand the race dynamics in that country.
Take the whole thing with Patric Kane and Adam Burrish dressing up as Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen making headlines in the US. Would anyone in Canada have cared if that happened here?
a) 37% is pretty respectable for a movie like this. Must have some redeeming qualities.
b) Has John Cusack been in a good movie in the last 10 years? This is probably a step up to what he's being doing lately, at least he'll make some money.

I thought 1408 was very underrated, but if you're not into that kind of movie, then you're gonna think it's silly and stupid. Identity had its moments as well. Serendipity was a good chick flick..... But yeah, Cusack has been in his fair shre of crap lately.

i thought The Ice Harvest was quite good, but that's one of the only bright spots he's had in the last 10 years or so
Just seen 2012. Have to say I was not dissapointed. Even had somewhat of a plot. The special effects were done very well - best I've seen. Didn't look computerized or whatever you want to call it. Was worth my time and money for sure. Had given up on "End of the world movies" but thought I would give this a try. May even go and see it again. Warning spoiler sort of have to say this, had too many close calls and the ending got a little slow. Other than that, I liked it.

Really? The people sitting around me thought the movie was crap also. Guess you must be one of the very few that liked it
Not sure where you got the stats so fast, opening weekend isn't even out yet. Anyway I'm done, no sense in bickering. Some will like it some won't. Not every movie is for everybody. Done.

It wasn't Oscar worthy by any means, but I like Runaway Jury.
