That should be a rule with everythign that doesn't have "Transformers" or "batman and Robin" in the title.

I forget which thread, and which poster said it, but they stated they didn't see a movie anymore unless it had an 80% + rating on rotton tomatoes or something stupid like that.

So dumb, so dumb.

I'll sit through anything that has Olivia Wilde in it. I'll even go see Cowboys and Aliens too.

Actually, it does look pretty good. I mean... cheesy, but the right kind of cheese.

Tron was definitely not as good as I thought it would be. The first little while was good, and all the effects were pretty rad, and the soundtrack was aaaawesome, but I got pretty bored with it pretty quickly, and found myself hoping it would end soon. I don't think seeing it in 3D would have made it any better either. Too bad... could have been a great movie.

Cowboys and Aliens looks good. I'll definitely be seeing that. And True Grit!

I liked the movie. I saw Tron on TV a couple weeks ago so I was primed and ready for more, and that's really what you get. If you liked the original movie, you'll like this one.

And yeah, Olivia Wilde.

Haven't seen the original, so I went in with no expectations. I liked it, in a "I just dropped an LSD tablet and WOAH" kinda way. Not outstanding, but entertaining. Probably the best non-Avatar 3D movie I've seen, but that doesn't say much.

For some reason though, I kept drawing parallels to Star Wars.

Yup, I was entertained - all that one can expect really. We watched the original movie beforehand it was crazy cheesy . . . until you realize they made it almost 3 decades ago. That's nuts!

The Flynn cloak/hoodie thingy was a bit Obi-wan Star Warsish.

BTW, there is a nice TPB that bridges the two movies if anybody is interested.

It wasn't as good as I was hoping it to be, and I think it was because of subpar character development. Four reasons:

- Sam Flynn: full of one-liners, cocky little a-hole. Was not a hero by any means.
- Quorra: a side character who could have had a much larger role, a la Mila Jovovich's character in the Fifth Element
- Clue: Not enough character development, even for a CGI character
- Kevin Flynn: Jeff Bridges being Jeff Bridges ("Cool Dude!")

I saw this last night and ya, the first hour was excellent and then it really went down from there.

Probably my favourite part of the movie was when Daft Punk made a small cameo djing at Zeus' party. Pretty awesome.

What's a TPB?

I saw the first one when I was 8 at a friend's birthday party. Loved it! Went and saw this one and it gave me the same feeling - like a kid revisiting childhood.

I'm a huge fan of 3D and Sci Fi generally, so for this nerd, TRON was a fantastic experience. 3D actually has me wanting to go to the theatre again.

I liked that he talked "80's". It made sense since he'd been locked in there for 20 years. I haven't heard the word "radical" as an expletive since high school!

Ahhh sorry - "trade paperback." It's basically a compilation of (usually) several comics all in one.

I was quite disappointed ... the 3D seemed almost non-existent. How Tron of all movies didn't take 3D and run with it I have no idea, but i found it incredible underwhelming and an obnoxious waste of $3.

Olivia Wilde was very good. Talented and an absolute joy in rubber pants.

The Daft Punk cameo seemed forced. I didn't like how it showed them over and over again. I got it the first time ... by the 4th time it showed them bopping along the novelty kinda wore off.

I agree with the rotten tomatoes score of 48%.

Watched it last night.

It was fun to look at, but that`s all.

I remember watching the original movie sometime in the 90s and was bored, this was slightly better I guess.

Other than Avatar, every movie released was conceived in 2D then converted to 3D. I'm betting Tron was the same, and the conversion to 3D came after. After all, they do say in the opening credits that much of the movie was shot in 2D and intended to be that way.

This is the type of movie that 3D would excel at if they designed it with that in mind from day 1 though.

It was filmed using the same Sony Fusion 3d Camera System that Avatar was. All of the Pixar/Dreamworks 3d animations are real 3d as well. There were only a handful of films converted to 3d: Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, Piranha, Narnia, Last airbender, G-Force were the big ones that were converted.
