I have a friend who's a pharmacist, and it seemed like a very long time she was in University, don't know how long, but I know she had almost as much education as a doctor. Well, depending on what kind of Dr. My friend is married to Psychiatrist..they make Tons of dough, but they also have to practice general medicine for quite a few years before they can even become a psychiatrist. Education does make you money. Wish I had thought alot more about education when I was young. If I was young, and could do it all over, I'd make education my number one priority. *just some advice to you younguns

The sad thing is when I go in and ask about weight-lifting related stuff.....their ignorance astounds me.
Even the doctors who I've known for years and greatly respect.

Pharmacists go through 4 years of schooling and Doctors also go through 4 years of schooling. Granted, pharmacy school is more specific to drugs and med school more in diagnosis and patient care... so they are a little more broad. Although a big part is that pharmacists do not have to do residency... which is a big pain in the arse.
Either way, both professions have good schooling however it isn't always perfect in rejecting the morons. Harder in Pharmacy since they don't have interviews but both need great GPAs.

I may only make in the 30-40/hour range for now, but where I am that's enough to be several times what an auditor at a top 4 accounting firm makes (such as my fiancee), not to mention what I'm doing right now is a bit of a cake walk for me. The job I'll be taking on in a month or so should put me making something like 16-20 times the average salary in the city I'm moving to, including a new, rent-free apartment. Relative to my surroundings, I'm doing pretty well. I can eat out every day, get massages and party whenever I want, travel and still put money away every month.

pharm is a very, very important part of the team. 44 seems low to me.
it is reasonable practice to write med orders in hospital charts "dosed per pharm". Often, there are many pain-in-the-bum calculations/adjustments that have to be made to med doses depending on factors like age, weight, kidney/liver function, other meds interacting... or in other situations, certain outpatient oral meds must be converted to IV dosing in house... and this doesnt even scratch the surface of what they can do for you.
In terms of outpatient pharm, they are also megaimportant. for example, there is one pharmacist at the richmond square clinic who specializes in diabetic education. many, many docs in the area rely on her to work closely with the patient to optimally dose diabetic meds (difficult, very time consuming... with a touch of hit n' miss). typically, if she faxes you a recommendation for a med change/dose adjust, you just sign the order...
i really hope the good pharmacists are compensated better than a piddly 44. they earn that easily.

I'm guessing he's in China, where the wage discrepencies between different jobs can be ridiculous.
On the topic of pharmacists, I think I'd honestly trust them in giving me medication advice over doctors. Doctors diagnose and treat patients, but it's so broad that I don't think it can be expected that they be drug experts as well.
