I'd rather people text message than have a conversation. On that note, I recently went to a movie and I happened to be waiting on an important medical-related call. My phone buzzed in my pocket but I didn't pick it up out of respect for the other movie-goers. I flipped it open to quietly check my voicemail and this old bag beside totally lost her bowels. I've never had the inkling to slap an old lady before, but this one was pushing it.

I guess while teenagers are stupid, old fartbags are critical pain in the asses.
I'll admit more then once, I've wanted to slap a old lady before. (no i never did)

I hate going to movies in theaters too, but I saw Star Trek yesterday. I figured it's been out long enough that the little ######-bags have all already seen it. (plus I had passes)
No complaints other than a tubby guy sitting beside me.

And stores like Baby Gap and Gap Kids sure don't help this misconception.
I've usually found that telling those idiot kids that nobody in the theatre paid $12 to listen to them often shuts them up.
I also recently saw a girl at the theatre, probably 16 or so, thin as a beanpole, wearing a tank top and a skirt so short it would show off everything if she bent over. And a tramp stamp, of course. I very, very nearly walked up to her and told her that as long as she choose to look like a slut, there wasn't a single person in that theatre who respected her for who she is, least of all her boyfriend, who would dump her the second she stopped putting out.

I've always found that we have been able to avoid it. I pick out my spot carefully. Away from anybody who has the slightest appearance of being a dufus(any age). Then it's move to another spot. So I haven't had to go to the manager yet but that would be my next step.

That's awesome. High five, Captain.
I've accepted the fact that movie theaters are venues for teens. I rarely go to the movies because of this. Always full of chatty kids that don't seem to bother each other. They'll all talk during the flick and it's like I'm the only crotchety old f'r that wants them to STFU.
I can't even remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater.
There should be theaters that have age limits. Just like bars that won't allow people under 25.

I was at the theatre a while ago and saw an elderly couple walking through the theatre looking for two seats together, the theatre was pretty crowded with lots of people (teens and adults) chatting doing there own thing. It was a crowded theatre too so this couple was having trouble finding seats together.
All of the sudden, this stupid teen and his friend stands up and offers this elderly couple their seats so that they can sit together while him and his buddy goes off and sit by themselves in a couple single seats...
They're not all bad you know. Besides, if a teen has problems with respecting others in the world, I'd like to know what the adults in that kids life is doing or have demonstrated for him.

Okay, I haven't read most of this thread, but when I read the original post the only thing I could think about was how, the only the really important part of this story is that Captaincruch (who is presumably a grown man) and his friend (Who is also presumably a grown man) were 100% ready to throw down with a couple of 14 year olds because they were talking in a movie theatre.
Serioulsy, who tries to fight a couple of 14 year olds?

I'm not sure even that would make a difference. Nowadays I only go to movies with my kids and then only to movies where the big screen experience makes a difference. Otherwise why on earth would anyone who isn't doing it for something to do go to a theater? At home I have a big screen(not as big as in the theater but plenty big), decent sound and all the comforts of home. I can pause and go get more munchies, allow for bathroom breaks, etc. I can have family/friends over to watch a movie. I can eat and drink and spend peanuts in comparison.
So even if they had theaters where they had managers patrolling and everyone just sat and watched the movie I wouldn't go any more often. It's more enjoyable at home for the vast majority of movies!!!!!!

I'm not 100% sure what you're getting at, but it seems that you're dissing the Captain for standing up for himself. Aka not taking crap from little punk ass kids. Little punks ass kids that think they're tough gangstas that can intimidate the generation that allows them to exist.
Re read the post. The little f'rs were trying to "throw down" with him and he finally turned around and started walking toward them, at which point, the useless losers took off like pussies.

Tru dat. Even if it was quieter and cheaper, I still wouldn't go. Just like you said, at home I can pause it and grab a beer (a beer), take a leak, answer the phone, grab some food, tap my date... I don't even know which movies are so important that they must be seen on a big screen.
I think the last time I really had an awareness of the size of the screen was when I saw Saving Private Ryan in the theater. The beginning of the movie, where they're storming the beach was pretty cool to see on big screen. I do remember thinking that that alone made the evening worth while. But had I never seen it in the theater, it's not like my life would go unfulfilled.

Yeah, but it's the "I'm going to beat you to death with your friend" and the turning around and walking back towards then that is a little silly to me.
Seriously, 14 year olds are stupid. Mouthing off in a movie theatre is well within their expected range of actions.
Adults presumably are not. Hence actually trying to take up the 14 year olds invitation to brawl isn't in what most people would classify as acceptable behaviour.

I think the threat of physical violence might be the only way to get through to some of these coddled teens. Even if someone from the theatre comes to deal with them, what's the worst that happens to them? They get kicked out? Big deal.
But if they think there might be a chance that they'll get an ass kicking in public, they'll think twice about the repercussions of acting like an idiot.

They basically physically threatened me twice, once in the theatre and once in the parking lot.
I thought I had difused it the first time in the theatre, but when they're following me back to my vehicle, who knows what happens if I don't stand up to their crap. Are they going to bust my brake lights, kick in my side panels.
Its an important lesson to the little sh#ts. I'm not going to turn the other cheek, or skulk away from these disrespectfull kids.
they certainly didn't want to act like normal human beings when I nicely asked them not to talk in the theatre, they threatened me, I threatened back. I would do that to these kids or a bunch of 40 year olds. I would do the same with the parking lot situation, no matter what their ages.

Geez, all you people have such bad movie going experiences......I go to the theatres at least 2-3 times a month and I would say maybe 1 or 2 of every 10 is where I notice something or someone.....but it's never got to the point where I wanna never see movies in the theatre again.....And in those 1 or 2 times of every ten, it's usually something small, like chatter during the previews or a dude making more noise than necessary with his candy bag.
