Federer wins! 6-1, 7-6(7-1), 6-4............wins the French Open to win the career Grand Slam and wins his 14th Grand Slam which ties Pete Sampras' record. Arguably the best tennis player of all time! Congrats Roger!!!

arguably an entire grand slam away from matching Rod Laver to begin the discussion of the best player of all time.

He is the best player of our current era that is for sure though. Way to go.

YES!!!!!!! Now there is no doubt he is the best tennis player ever! This almost makes up for the Flames not getting out of the first round this year.

Idiot Announcer during the 3rd set: Well what do you think John? Tiger Woods has 14 majors, Federer might have have 14 majors. How does it compare?

McEnroe: F off!

hahaha

20 straight semi finals appearances in Grand Slams. No brainer.

Federer joins Fred Perry, Don Budge, Rod Laver, Roy Emerson, and Andre Agassi as the only men to have ever won a career grand slam. That's quite the accomplishment.

Nice to see my 2 favorite players (Agassi/Federer) in that group.

I think Federer will break the record of 14 Grand Slam titles this year.

Best player ever.

Nice to see Agassi at the trophy presentation! (The last player to have the career Grand Slam).

The wins on all surfaces thing really is a divider in tennis. Which is why Nadal deserves some props for working on his game. This puts Roger up there with the other greats who are able to master every aspect of the game.

I woke up specifically to watch the final part of the match and tuned in when it was 5-4 in the 3rd. Looks like Roger dominated the 1st, then proceeded to just play the match out. I don't think there's any doubt as to whether he's the greatest player ever. People should realize that Roger is only 27 years old! He's got a good 5 years of tennis left in him before he would even think about retiring.

I loved the entire post match ceremony. From Andre being there (I hope Pete is going to be at the next Major for Roger), to Roger saying (paraphrased) "no one can be in all the finals". It was all well done and honestly gave me chills at moments. Great man, Great Player, Greatest of all Time!

I found him saying that funny since he has been in 15 of the last 16 grand slam finals.

He said that because they are good buddies and once during a Nike commercial shot they were joking abut who would win the most and they have some type of bet.

Best tennis player ever! That was awesome to watch, I thought after that idiot from Spain ran on the court it was going to take a turn for the worse. Glad he could hold on and you can tell he is a class act from the interview after asking about Nadal. "You never want a guy to lose a match, that's just mean".

Way to go Roger!

It would have been sweeter to have beaten Nadal finally, but that doesn't take anything away from Federer.

I hope Nadal is in good shape for Wimbledon. After losing in Madrid, and the early exit here, and bowing out of the Wimbledon tune-up, he might really have something wrong with his knees. Let's hope not. Federer-Nadal has to be the premier rivalry in sports right now.

Great to see Roger finally do it. Hopefully Wimbledon will be epic (assuming Nadal doesn't pull out).

Also great to see what a class guy Soderling was yesterday. From checking to make sure Roger was alright after the fan incident to his great speach after a pretty dominating loss. I'm a fan.

"nobody can beat me 11 times in a row!", i love that.

With all the talk about Nadal's knees that is definitely one thing Federer has to be given a lot of credit for. Nadal is thought to be in peak physical condition and now some health troubles are beginning to surface. With the exception of Mononucleosis last year (he still made the SF at the Australian Open BTW), Federer has been nearly invincible health-wise.

Tennis is a tough game to stay healthy and in shape like that.

Especially for a guy like Nadal that likes to rundown dang near every shot. Meanwhile Federer just makes the calculation and decides whether the effort is worth it.
