Haha, that's what I was thinking.
Finally they can create a sim where I can help my characters with their calculus homework.

Eye Toy failed can't see what Natal offers that will make it succeed. Voice recognition separated from the motion capture would probably offer more for gamers.

I was actually very impressed. It is obviously not very developed yet but the thought of what this kind of control system could do in a few years is kind of awe inspiring.

Quote from Kotaku pretty much mirrors my feelings on that:
McWhertor: If that's real and not Peter Molyneux real then... wow.

The voice recognition was easily the most impressive part of the presentation.
I just don't see how Natal could be easily applied to non-casual type games.

I actually really like Molyneux and the games that Lionhead creates. I'm not sure what peoples problem with him is. They say he over promises and under delivers but I thought that Fable 2 especially was fantastic.

MS press conference was pretty dissappointing if your a gamer. Nothing surprising that hasn't been already leaked.

I guess we'll see once IGN, Gamespot, etc. post their impressions from the closed-door presentation. I'm not holding my breath on anything that Molyneux talks up.

It's very Wii. It'll probably be only useful for stuff like party games. I'm hoping voice recognition will be used for stuff like changing weapons or going through your inventory in real games. Also things like offering teammates commands. Stuff like that that makes playing real game less complex.

the concepts are cool, obviously a lot of work left to do... I'm wondering how long the fascination of a person donning 3d glasses and playing in fake water catching fake fish can last though. part of me was thinking the porn industry will be all over this, lol.

I've been considering selling the xbox and haven't seen anything so far to change my mind.
Is anyone else sick and tired of unoriginal sequels? I think the entire gaming industry is garbage right now. If it wasnt for NHL I wouldn't game at all, and I wouldn't feel like I was missing anything.

Portal 2??? I had no idea!
I cannot wait!
Also, I have been waiting for Starcraft 2 for eternity now, if I do not get it by this fall, Blizzard will rue the day they decided to take their sweet ass time on it.

I haven't played Fable 2 (don't own a 360), but it's not that his games aren't good.
I know from Fable 1 he promises huge things that simply aren't even remotely true. It was still a good game, but it was nothing close to what he was talking up even months before the games release. It was supposed to be as big as Morrowind, but with tight combat, a deep contact system with NPCs, and the ability to face the repercussions of your actions (win over a girl, get married, adventure for months, and then have the wife mad or divorce you). Instead it was a very linear game where you couldn't even venture off the set paths and the NPCs sucked.

Ya I remember all the promises of Fable and I bought it first day and while it didn't suck I distinctly remember thinking this is *NOT* all they said it was supposed to be. It's not bad, even fun, but not what they said.

Exactly. And Black & White left me very bitter.
If they can pull it off then it could revolutionize the industry. I have a hard time imagining that the innovation will be used to create experience that are geared towards what I enjoy, but I can always hope that someone more creative than I am will come up with something.
One of the things my friend mentioned was how fun is it to sit there for 5-10 minutes with your arms in the air pretending that you are holding a wheel? Everything that makes driving really fast exciting: the sensation of speed, the noise, passing people and winning the race are all present normally so how does the addition of holding your hands in the air make the experience better?

I agree. I usually post a lot on the 360 forums, and I have been today, but I am stopping. Love some of the comments on "PS3 fanboys are crying, blah blah". Then they go on to say the 360 conference was fantastic, this "Project Natal" will "revolutionize" gaming. That is when I stopped.
The only "surprised" to me was L4D2. I was fairly disappointed with the entire conference, 20 minutes on the Beatles: Lame. Facebook and Twitter on 360: Even lamer. Couldn't care about the other partnerships (the tv and music one), since we probably won't get it in Canada anyway.
Only showed off a few games.
And there wasn't even a big Rare Announcement, which there was supposed to be.
In my opinion, it was pretty mediocre.

According to that link, Natal will cost around $200 on top of the 360 console cost. Unless it turns out spectacular, that price could easily ruin Natal.
If this is true, it seems to me that Microsoft is trying to get Natal out there too soon before it's economically feasible just to try and cut into the casual market.

i've had a crazy morning with work, so I haven't been able to keep up to date. Thanks for the updates!
I'm so jealous of left for dead on the 360 ... I've always wanted to play that. I've also heard a lot of awesome things about crackdown, so that's cool. Everything else though I'm not terribly interested. I'm a big twitter fan, but I don't think i would want it on my console. That being said I have no idea how they're integrating it.
