I'm really sorry that Safeway fired you Jedi...

But you know if you cherry pick Safeway's Specials, you should have absolutely no problem. They're better or equal to Superstore's prices.

Singles are the only ones who shop non-superstore? Please.

Honestly, the reasons you go to Safeway are the following:

1) Time spent in the store - You can get out a lot faster than a superstore. The layout is smaller (i.e less hunting around for items) and you can get through the checkstands a lot quicker.

2) Out of Stocks - Safeway is pretty darn good for keeping stuff in stock. Go look at a Superstore on a Sunday night - good luck getting even 60% of what you came into the store for, especially if it is a perishable. Even after orders come in, finding what you want can be pretty hit and miss.

3) Airmiles - yep, people love em and a lot of specials have pretty massive airmiles deals.

4) Service - It is kind of nice to be treated like a human being where you shop. The ones who really don't care really about service are the same piles of crap shopping @ Superstore smashing carts into customers or shoving people out of the way.

So, just doing some work related to this shopping centre. Was there about a month ago checking it out. Wondering what people think a year later.

We have pretty much moved our grocery shopping over to the Aspen Landing Safeway (closer to our house).

I find it a little bit tight to be driving around in, but like the mall so far (my wife loves the Crave cupcakes)

Never in history has there been such a collection of nice cars driven by people that simply cannot drive. Every time you go in there you're rolling the dice on getting hit, especially that long narrow section where people driving Q7's just back out as if no one could be coming.

My fiancee apologizes - We've got a Q7 on order and are planning to build up near Aspen.

I'll make sure she gets the backup camera option

My wife and I go there fairly regularly (Safeway, SDM). We've talked about strolling over to check out some of the other places and have lunch at Avocado, but it has yet to happen.

I go to the mall for something every day, I walk there every three days or so. I hit up the Safeway, gas station, Starbucks (both), Edo, Subway, Wok Box, Extreme Pita, Panago, Avacado, Crave (for the wife), Marble Slab (for the wife), Good Earth, Shoppers, Pet Planet, M&M, the Liquor Store and Jugo Juice (I think I gave everyone a plug!).
I do hit up the video game store and am thinking of transferring my dog to the vet there. The flower shop is also nice.
What I am most looking forward to is Thai Tai (sp?).

The pros of the mall is the variety, the stores seem well run and are still clean. They all seem to recognize me. I walk there but do drive on occasion.
The cons are they butchered some of the concrete work around the parking area. Some corners are hard to navigate due to the strange use of concrete. For example, getting into Shoppers, several stalls are simply never going to be used. Also, the poor design around Crave and Avocado. That area, IMO, should have been park only with no cars. Some nice benches and tables would have changed the whole feel of the area, yet now it will be parking. This area could have been a real evening destination for a coffee, ice cream or bite to eat and a nice stroll. Instead, there are cars zipping all over.
I think they did a great job, you just gotta dodge all the expensive cars.

I'm annoyed that everything up there is some kind of chain of something, I'd like to see at least one or two independent businesses or restaurants try their hand up here.

I'm curious to know how they decide what types of stores get the thumbs up in a new complex like that.

I seen both German Titov and Jann Arden there, so if you're like me and love anything Arden & Titov head on over.

The mall would be better if they filled in the silly "lake" and built a super big Wal-Mart. I mean, come on? Theres some serious square feet to sell off on top of that water. And wheres the McDonalds?

Probably was required for dainage or something. There's some serious hill action going on behind that place.

^^Sorry, should have used green text^^

Those picturesque lakes they use as a selling feature and look so lovely in the artist's conceptual pics are nasty. If I fell in one I would bathe in alcohol and scrub with a wire brush.
