Hmm...I'd work, but things I'd like to do. Let's say I won $32 mil, I'd take $1 mil and make the craziest, most outrageous comedy about overeaction. Then, I'll buy 20 saint bernards and hire the skinniest person to walk them. I would also build a house filled with booby traps and invite my friends over, then I'd activate the traps and leave the house, watching the whole thing unfold in my panic room.
I would also build a remote control Honda Civic (since they are the most stolen vehicle) and leave the keys and engine running with the door unlocked. Then I will wait until someone tries to steal it. Adventure ensues.
Next, I'd open up a nightclub in calgary call "Electric Ave Fight Club" featuring such greats as tight jeans mullet fighter and sweatpants mullet fighter...
...oh the possibilities.
Oh yeah, last but not least...I'd fly to Japan and con Yuna Ito into going out with me, by proclaiming myself as some sort of King from Siam.

I'd continue to go to school and get my degree but not before traveling my face-off and going to every stadium for almost every team in the NHL, NFL, and NLB. Than with what's left I'd try and start my own company and purchase a large amount of real estate that would be able to fund my family for generation.

I actually know 2 people who have won Super 7.
One sold his family farm (which was going down the drain anyways, he wasn't much of a farmer) and opened up a fishing camp in northern Ont.
The other guy was hounded by Ex girlfriend/wife and had to go into seclusion.
I'd quit my day job set up some sort of annuity, and buy a small business that probably wouldn't make much money, but wouldn't lose much money, and would be something I'd enjoy and left me lots of time to travel.

A friend of a friend won $4M once with her b/f. They lived in Thunder Bay, and had to get to Toronto to claim it. Being broke ~21 year olds they borrowed $20 from each and every person they knew to get airfare. Got to TO on the Sunday night and had just enough for a middle class hotel and a pizza. Went to the lottery office on Monday, and to their horror they realized it was August 3rd and the office was closed for the holiday Monday.
At which point they called my friend, and asked if his rent cheque had cleared yet. It hadn't so he wired them the $400 that was in his bank so they could get another hotel. Apparently the entire time the $4M ticket stayed inside the guy's sock.
Anyways, time for me to check tonight's ticket!

Hell, I don't work now and I didn't even win the lotto.
I would open two businesses(Already know exactly what kind), hire people with the knowhow to run them, and work 10-15 hours a week at each of them, just as a schlub that ran the cash register.

Oh, I'd write a FU blog for sure. I wonder how hard that would be to do while I sailed around the world.
I like the idea of owning a sports franchise too. I'd convert the stands along the 3rd base line into some sort of dive bar with cheap wings. What's the minimum drink price in Alberta for beer? 'cause that's what I'm charging.

I'm currently unemployed, so I wouldn't quit that job.
Assuming that I won at least 20x the income that I had a month ago (before I lost my job), then I wouldn't look for additional work and I suspect that my wife would quit her job.
A majority of the money would be invested for income. The mortgage would be paid off and I'd pick up a nice watch or two.
I wouldn't be surprised if I started up a business eventually. I wouldn't likely start a capital intensive business unless I had won enough that I could risk it.

Somewhat on topic, I was at Stanford GSB's (aka their MBA program) grad party this weekend, which was my first real exposure to Stanfords MBA's (versus UofC's MBA's or UofA's MBA's)... sufficed to say, I've always hated school and lectures, but I think I actually want to try for Stanford's GSB... sounds very intriguing... one step at a time though.

If I won the lottery sometime in the near future, I think I'd continue my "tentative" plans... but I'd be able to do everything a lot more comfortably, and probably more excessively.
First I'd travel for a year or so... just shoot the breeze and have fun. And then I would move to Paris to do my masters (which I already plan to do... but if I won the lotto I could live in a nice apartment instead of a cardboard box...). After that, I would still work, because otherwise I'd die of boredom... but I would freelance, so I could do my work from whatever corner of the world I find myself in.

I'd keep my job, buy my Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lambo, and Pagani, then use them on my pizza deliveries. But I would only stay for a month, then I'd quit and go to Amsterdam and Berlin, my two favorite places.
Then after like 6 months, I'd come home, invest, start my business, hit the clubs with my wad of cash, and when all the women come, I will laugh at their face and leave.

I would quit working and stay home with my babies. Buy a bigger house. And then invest so Rathji wouldn't have to work for anyone but himself or as he wants so he can just keep going to school. House would be the only real big purchase and the rest I think we would invest. All of the above is of course subject to the opinion of Rathji. I can't make all the decisions all the time.
