The Jays are actually in good shape to get off to a really good start. Currently 3-1, with 3 games in Cleveland, the Tribe are not very good and Doc will pitch in that series. After the Indians, it is a 4 game set with the Twins, and home to face the A's who have a very young pitching staff.
I could see them sweeping the Indians, and splitting with the Twins which would put them at 8-3 to start.

he's a former first rounder, so there is obviously something there.

Funny how things can change in 4 days. From certain doom of finishing in the low 70s in wins to calling a sweep of a series and going 5 games above .500. I've been watching the Jays for years and for once perhaps the low expectations will be good for them. OOOORRRR they will get the Leafs syndrome, play well enough to finish in the middle of the pack. That's all the Toronto teams do anyways.

Well said, it's been interesting seeing Gaston completely change the mindset of the team, away from Ricciardi's vision of working counts to a much more aggressive team. How Ricciardi buried Lind last season was pretty ridiculous, though full credit to J.P for the drafting of Snider, who looks to be the best hitting prospect the Jays have had since Delgado.

I'm a J.P hater, believe me, but he has done a good job stocking the Jays system full of nice prospects.
The lack of activity in free agency puzzles Jays fans, as that's how we've relied on being competitive teams the last decade. Now that there are decent prospects to call up, free agency isn't the be all end all. It's a nice change.

Jays battled back from a 3-0 deficit to lead 4-3 into the top of the 5th with a ton of momentum. Rain delay was called, and the game would have to be canceled and re-played if they can't get back to it today.
Problem is that the re-start time keeps getting mysteriously pushed back, and apparently it's not raining in Cleveland anymore.
I wonder if the Jays could appeal to the league if they end up getting hosed here.

They've resumed and the Jay's are currently leading by a wider margin. 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th.

Well, the Jays certainly haven't had trouble scoring in those clutch situations.
9-7.

I know it's early but.....
Funny how when the pitching isn't great we're able to put up runs so far this year.
Last year when we had one of the best pitching rotations we couldn't score runs.
Should be a W today with Doc on the mound.

Yeah but Cliff Lee will be on the other side. Had a bad opening game but this is a Cy Young winner as well.
Hopefully the Jays get to him anyway.

Jays leading 4-1 in the top of the eighth inning, runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Lind is 2 for 4 with an RBI. Halladay looked good, 7 Ks 5 Hits and 1 ER.
Halladay is the best pitcher in the entire MLB. I'm sure this has been mentioned before but if he had any run support last season he could have hit 25 or maybe even 27 wins.
Edit: BJ Ryan in for the close, god help us. Already walked Garko, one on no outs. Will he ever regain his form?
Edit #2: DP, 2 outs.
Edit #3: Ryan has walked the bases loaded.

Yes, Doc is a pleasure to watch.
Kevin Millar must be working some voodoo on the in-fielders, 'cause his awful base-running seems to be catching the basemen off guard.

ugh, BJ Ryan is a trainwreck. They need to deal with their closer situation quickly.

I'm pulling for BJ Ryan to get things back together, but man, he's got nothing right now, and the batters know it.

What an awful "closer." Gets a DP so none on with two outs, then promptly walks the bases loaded.
When is Accardo back?
