Beer is restricted and you can't buy a case at the store. You need to apply for a permit and have it shipped in. 4 flats of beer is about $220 + shipping by plane.

Are there no bars or pubs?
Tell me again why you live there!

I assume beer is restricted for some reason? What a horrible horrible thing. I'd never bathe if I lived there, as my bathtub would be used for making moonshine.

Ya any tournaments here we need to fly. Basketball, badminton, soccer...I sent a team of 10 boys to Iqaluit two weeks ago and the flights were $20,000. Sport Nunavut pays 90% of the travel costs and the team pays the rest. Sport Nunavut has government funding and if it did not exist there would be no sports becuase no one would be able to afford to send a team anywhere.
My jeep is still in Calgary. I pick it up in June and drive it to Winnipeg. From Winnipeg it heads to Churchill on the train and then it gets on a barge in Churchill and makes it way to Chester.

No bars or pubs. No restaurants or places to buy coffee. There are two stores to buy groceries and that's it.
Tons of reasons why I live here. I like teachers here way more than in the south. Relaxing quality of life and great if you like outdoor activities. The pay for teachers is the best in Canada.

Is there any talk up there about permafrost melting and its effect on infrastructure?
e.g. Any roads subsiding or building damage?
Are the locals concerned re. climate change?

Is the ratio of men to women really more than 5-1? Are any of the men quality? Should I move north to find a good piece of ass? How YOU doin?
As a side note, I hear (and I did a project on this in University so when I say I hear, i actually mean I researched,) that there is an extraordinarily high ratio of domestic abuse in the northern regions. Why do you think that is?

I hear suicide rates are quite high during the winter. Is that true? I know I'd hate not seeing the sun for a couple months, but it wouldn't cause me to start tying a noose.

There still seems to be pretty good permafrost here. Most building are built off of the ground so we don't see shifting.
Lots of people are concerned about climate change becuase the sea ice goes faster every year. There is also a lot of disagreement between scientists and elders about things like Polar Bear populations. Although there are some disagreements, scientists do consult with elders who have been seen many things change over the years.

I am not sure if I would say there is an extraordinarily high ratio but it does happen from time to time and usually when it does it is alcohol related.

I just have to put in an order for it. I fill out a form and it goes to the alcohol committee. When it passes I get my booze in 3-5 days.
