Now, whether or not Obama's foreign policies will allow his approval ratings to stay high world-wide is another question.

You do know that the rise of extremism saw its greatest growth and activity before Bush came into power. Remember that the world trade center attacks were in action long before Bush was sworn in, the Cole attacks the attacks on the marine barracks in Beruit, the hostage situation in Iran.
To say that Bush is some key cause in the rise of terrorism is incorrect. Extremism is caused by blind hate, not the hate of one man, but the hate of situations, and the creation of convenient targets.
There will always be easy recruiting as long as thier are extremist viewpoints that feed on the young and the stupid, Obama is not going to change that, he is not some great hope for peace, he is not some great hope for a reduction in their activities.
Besides, Obama is going to persecute the war in Afghanistan to whatever end there is and he's going to slow down the withdraw out of Iraq until he's sure that Iraq is secure.
He's not going to withdraw support for Israel, or support for the currupt but compliant regimes in the middle east.
But if he shows any weakness or lack of resolve in keeping these elements on the run, America will pay for that kindness.
