i emailed them at about 1400 asking how to do it and they told me i needed 2000 but gave it to me anyway at the time because i was clearly on my way to 2k.

Do your lifetime points expire at all? Because I thought they used to go away after a year or something.

nope, you need 2000 LIFETIME points..
your vpp's go away after a year for bonus levels like supernova, supernova elite, etc.,

Pretty good turnout for short notice, got 13 players with a total prize pool of $65. I had to invite two friends to add to the prize pool but it's all good. I feel like we can get a solid regular tournament going sooner or later.
