Yes yes and yes to the philosophical threads. It is sort of annoying how frustrated/down people get, but the ones that push back and overstep it have got so unberable that I've sort of given up on PGT's and GT's unless there's something stupid I want to say or something that needs to be said. This crap really took off when people took ahold of the "saviour" group and it seems like there are 2 personalities CP turns towards: a win = "I like" thread, a loss = philosophical thread.

I guess the only thing that really bothers me is sugercoated statements and responses, responses that downplay negative issues. Don't get me wrong, those gamethreads and pgt's can be pretty damn depressing, but there's nothing worse than questioning an issue with the flames and getting responses that sound like they're coming from the Flames PR department.

"Wow, the Flames didn't play with a lot of urgency today, we need these points, the Canucks are winning lots lately"

"Sports teams lose games, the Flames can't go 82 - 0".

"Well that ends that then."

I agree with Phanuthier on the GT and PGT. I hardly go into them anymore. When we lose its a definite no-no. There's always the guy who gives the "This team is going nowhere speech", and even after a win there is probably that post at least once. It gets tiresome. Its like unless we win by 6 goals and win every game of the season this is the worst team on earth to some people

Chuck Norris jokes. More specifically, people who are about 3 years behind and are just finding out about Chuck Norris jokes.

What in the hell ever happened to venting? Can't someone say they think Kipper blows ass chunks just once and not be treated like a total traitor? We just lost 5-2 and he had one of his worst games all year, people should be able to say things that are a little unlike their normal selves without having to worry that they will forever be known as a Kipper hater because when they were a little emotional and upset after a loss they talked smack about the Flames.
Brilliant! Nice post, flip.

My favorite post in a few weeks was in the "let's keep things in perspective" thread, when one of the Religiously Level Headed types scoffed at the idea of giving CP ... of ALL PLACES -- CALGARY PUCK -- some damned perspective. Silly kids, bein all pissed off after a loss. I can't believe it. Perspective. You lot wouldn't know perspective if you saw yourself from the corner of the room being hit by it.

But I do. Oh yes, I do.

Green text would have likely avoided that situation, however, the joke would have lost the majority of it's effect. The fact that he got offended made it funnier.

And so worth the infraction.

Take one for the team....don't go green.

You forgot the crap that is the game thread. That thing is almost unreadable when we lose. The chuckwagon jumping is horrendous. The Flames lose 2 road games after playing 4 in 5 nites and people want to sacrifice the entire team.

Maybe if they watched every Flames game for 7 years when they missed the playoffs they would appreciate how good they have it now.

Yeah, but at least they tend to stick to the game thread, and maybe start one more thread after that.

I completely ignore the hockey section of the board after a loss.

Yeah, I pretty much do the same now.

It used to be that the person who was a 'calming influence' on CP was a necessary thing, but with all the idiocy running rampant on the board over the last 3 or so years, it's become a predictable redundancy.

Or maybe I'm just jaded.

That post game thread against Atlanta made my eyes bleed. Couldn't go past page 3.

Weird thread...if everything mentioned in this thread that annoys people was eliminated - there really wouldn't be much left.

I think you're being a bit dramatic.

With the exception of a troll that was banned, the comments up to and including the page 3 you refer to were IMO mostly fair (poor showing by Kipper, tired team, not Cammalleri's best game ....) and non-hysterical. Isn't that what the PGT is about? To share thoughts on the game?

Can't expect a happy clappy crowd after a loss to a bottom feeder.

With the Flames playing relativly well right now people like clarky just need other things to whine and complain about

I can relate. Another poster and I received warnings and got a thread locked because someone thought the blatantly sarcastic and over-the-top misogynistic posts we were making were serious.
