Ah, yes.

Common cure? Lifting weights.

Seriously....for someone with a slower than normal metabolism, lifting weights and gaining lean body mass(muscle).....is a good way of increasing your BMR.

Read 'Starting Strength' by Mark Rippetoe.

Good book. If you want to get into lifting weights that is.

Or do Crossfit.

I must excuse my presence from this worthy of HOF status thread.

I will be back tomorrow to continue my findings in the world of fitness and nutrition.

Ciao.

What about those with Cholesterol issues? Eggs spell the path to a surefire death, do they not?

"Ploughboy's Regimen" - 'cause have you ever seen a fat ploughboy? Those dudes are skinnier than supermodels - or so I suspect, having never actually seen one. Which is probably because they are JUST THAT THIN!

"Regimen" also makes it sound manly - women have "plans" or "weight therapy" or "I wouldn't be a ginormous cow if I could only stop at one box of chocolatey Turtles". A regimen gives the impression that your diet is like being in the military, except that you don't get to blow stuff up or stand in the sun for hours.

Be sure to make up some crap about how this was passed on to you by some old farmer (preferably Asian - those Asians are wise when they're not off shooting up late-night noodle houses) who lived to be 104 years old and could still wear the same pants he wore on his wedding night. Mention that he would eat the eggs raw and mixed with warm whole milk, but since we're worthless and weak Westerners it is barely acceptable for us to cook the eggs and chill the milk.

Heck, I'll do the marketing for you. I'll go practice my crazy looks in the mirror right now.

Ive heard great things about Mark Rippetoe's program. Does the book you recommended come with the program too?

I eat about 4 eggs a day. Worried about my cholesterol. Otherwise I'd eat even more.

I eat egg whites every morning. I hate them. I eat them with salsa, franks red hot, spinach.....just about anything that doesn't have a lot of sugar in it to cover up the taste of microwaved farts.

I love diets.

You should be able to find it in pretty much any grocery store where they have regular bacon. Butteball Turkey Style Bacon is pretty much stocked everywhere.

I like my home made Breakfast sandwich of Turkey Bacon, Egg White, on a whole weat English Muffin. Not as tasty as a fast food one, but a hell of a lot less fat.

Any worse than the refined carbs that people gobble down all day long like their life depends on it?

Not that I should be comparing.

I see that Healthcheck.org is still on the 'dietary cholesterol is bad for you' bandwagon. But then again, considering they're also on the 'saturated fats cause heart disease' wagon, why should I trust them?

Scientists 'believe' that saturated/trans fats do more to raise your 'bad' cholesterol levels than dietary cholesterol does. By saying 'believe'....it means they can't 'prove' it beyond any shadow of a doubt.

I realize that there are high levels of dietary cholesterol in 'one' egg, so it probably isn't a good idea to over-indulge.

The description from Amazon.

Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training is the new expanded version of the book that has been called "the best and most useful of fitness books." It picks up where Starting Strength: A Simple and Practical Guide for Coaching Beginners leaves off. With all new graphics and more than 750 illustrations, a more detailed analysis of the five most important exercises in the weight room, and a new chapter dealing with the most important assistance exercises, Basic Barbell Training offers the most complete examination in print of the most effective way to exercise.
I do believe he offers two workouts to follow in his book.

But realize that its an intermediate program, for people just learning how to lift.

If you're looking for more advanced stuff, do Bill Starr's linear progression workouts.

From what I understand, the expiry dates can be moved a couple days, but after that you probably should throw them out.

Eggs are cheap. Try not to keep them past the expiry dates to make sure you avoid any possible health risks.
