Isn't the word on the street that this show won't make it to season 2?

Confirmed. Season one will be cut short. From Felicia Day's Twitter:
@feliciaday: Man, day getting worse and worse. Found out my Dollhouse ep, #13 isn't gonna air. Only on DVD. Such a great part too. Thx Fox.
@feliciaday: Thx all, to clarify seems like they'll air #12 as the finale and not air my ep #13 at all? So weird Ask @ foxbroadcasting I guess?
And from the Dr. Horrible Twitter:
@drhorrible: It's true. Dollhouse ep 13 isn't going to air. This makes @ feliciaday sad. How do you feel? Why don't share those feelings with FOX?
For those who don't know, Felicia Day appeared in Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog by Joss Whedon and was supposed to have a guest role on Dollhouse this season.

Actually, that doesn't mean anything (yet).
There was a contract for 13 episodes.
The pilot was shot, but then Fox scrapped it. However, that counts as one of the 13 contracted episodes.
8 Episodes have shown, and there are 4 more scheduled (the final one scheduled is called "Omega"). The completes the entire order.
The "13th" episode being discussed was created but apparently wasn't included in the contract and Fox says they don't want to air it. It apparently isn't required for the overall story.
Fox isn't supposed to make a decision on the future of Dollhouse until late May.

Further confirmation that is isn't officially cancelled:
Quote:
All parties also insist the network has not canceled Dollhouse, though the network declining to air an episode isn't encouraging. The most recent episode of Dollhouse earned a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, with companion Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles pulling a 1.3. Sources say the odds of Terminator surviving are pretty slim, but the closed-door verdict on Dollhouse is not in yet.

OK. Looks like I misunderstood. When I saw that Fox had chosen not to air a completed episode I assumed it was another Firefly situation where the show was cancelled before the episodes finished running. Still unlikely to be back with those ratings and the combined curse of being a Joss Whedon show and being part of the Fox Friday night lineup.

I hear ya, and yeah, it doesn't sound good. I really wish Joss would just go the syndication route and make the episodes and sell them (like the Star Trek franchise does).

By the way, anyone who missed Friday's episode (which was a bit of a strange one, I must admit) missed seeing Eliza Dushku dressed as a Dominatrix. Your (big big) loss.

As far as I know only TNG was purely in syndication. By the end DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise were all UPN properties. Which helped to kill Enterprise (besides the show being horrible.)

I missed it. So you're cracking the whip and making me watch it off Global's website, eh?

Yeah, Echo walking towards the door with her whip was the best scene so far, November is also easy on the eyes, Sierra not so much.
I haven't seen the 10th episode yet, but my overall feeling with this show is the same as with Terminator, the Flames or Prison Break - I really want to enjoy them, I hope they do well but they are making it so damn hard sometimes. The quality of episodes and periods is so wildly inconsistent it makes you shake you head, the lows are too low, the highs...don't happen often enough, there's too much fluff and questionable decisions. And the calls, oh the calls...
Sometimes it's hard to be a fan. But I'm still watching.

For the Firefly fans: another Firefly actor made it onto a Joss Whedon show. The Uncle Billy or whatever was the cop in Train Job.

I'm hoping that Dollhouse survives because its pretty clever, but then again so was TSCC.

Didn't enjoy Friday's episode. Felt like Murder She Wrote.
That said, the series has been pretty good so far. Not spectacular, but interesting enough to keep me watching.

The episode that isn't going to be shown (the one referrred to in earlier posts that Fox doesn't want to pay for) was going to have another Firefly alum.
Spoiler in white: Alan Tudyk played Alpha

Actually the Firefly alumnus in question is in this week's episode "Briar Rose" and doesn't play the role mentioned in the previous spoiler. The unaired episode featured somebody from Dr Horrible (spoiler: Felicia Day).
