Just finished Pushing Ice by Alastair Reynolds and I quite enjoyed it.
I wouldn't say it was great for its writing or dialog or character development, though each of these had its moments, but I really enjoyed it because it kept me guessing in terms of its scope and its message. Just when I thought it was one kind of story it would jump up a level in scope and theme.. then again... then again.
In the end it felt more like Stephen Baxter than anyone else I can think of, and I really like Baxter.
