I'd take the Garmin over the TomTom, but that's also due to the fact that I've seen the Garmin in action.

It's not a bad price, but I have seen it lower. Then again I'm also a cheap SOB who bought his GPS for $90.

Actually whether it will charge when your car is not running depends on the make of your vehicle... my lighter sockets continue to get power after I shut off the car, but many do not - my friends minivan for example turns them off.

I'm sure the garmin has an accesorie you could buy to charge it in a 110v wall plug but if not there is always these...

Oh and thanks Flames win for the icon changing site, thats is freakin wicked. I was really having troubles picking between Tom Tom and Garmin - this may be the tipping point.
