Ah, I wish I could quit you, Toronto Raptors. Up 19 at halftime, and beating up a depleted Clippers team. Can they piss this lead away?

Lead down to 11 with 430 left in the 3rd.... LMAO
Raptors should tank, get a lottery pick, what a horrible team.

Well they're up 20 now with about 3 minutes left in the fourth...should hold on, hopefully.

Well, a couple wins in a row against teams that had injury issues, but there are a few positives, at least. O'neal is playing great right now and the Raptors are doing a much better job of working it inside; if Bosh can get his game back on track, they'll be a great combination. Defense is better on the whole, and I liked Triano's decision to pull Calderon in late game defensive situations. I don't expect them to win tonight, but it'll be a great test for Toronto to be matched up against a younger, more athletic and less experienced front-court. I thought JO had a great game the first time they played Portland, and he's only gotten more confident since then. But the big concern since Triano took over is that the defense has been so soft at defending the 3-point shot. I think the game will come down to how hot Portland's shooters are: if they're sinking things from range, Toronto has no chance at coming back from any deficit. But if Portland's outside shooting cold tonight, they've got an honest shot.

Howard for Bargs and Parker.

I would personally like to ship o'neal(inability to play night in and night out) and moon/graham/Kapono for howard and another contract to balance it out.

O'Neal has no trade value though.

I don't believe it for a second. I'm not the type of guy who overvalues my favorite teams' players, but O'Neil has played very very well this year. The only problem with him, IMO, is that he doesn't create his own shot anymore and relys on just hanging out under the basket. I think it's what this whimpy team needs sometimes - just a guy to go in and bang under the basket, but the problem is, again, he doesn't dribble enough to create his own shot. Besides that, his contract is very attractive considering next year will be his last and with the overvalued 2010 coming up, will allow some team to shore up salary and go after one of the big 3 (though by the time that comes up, 2 of 3 guys will probably re-sign with their existing teams).
Having said all this, Howard has been terribly overrated his very short career. I don't think Bargnani is very good, but if he can be a consistent 18PPG and 6RPG player, I think he'll be a hell of a lot more valuable than Howard. I don't mind dealing Bargnani or O'Neil, but at least get a) somebody who's proven or b) a very high draft pick at the deadline along with a swingman. I concede that Bargnani has been pretty much a bust, but 7 footers with range, speed and at times some special offensive awareness - don't come growing on trees. If you don't get good value for the guy, let him rot. No point of making a Vince Carter deal.

I like bargniani and think that he needs more minutes in a more clearly defined role - like coming in off the bench at the 8 minute mark every game, going out at the 4 minute mark of the second, etc etc. Let him concentrate on that and not have to figure out where he might be playing or might not be playing.
I think Dallas will turn him into the second coming of Dirk. I'd do what I could to keep him.

I like the Adams trade... might be making space, might also just be picking up a more versatile asset for another trade. A Clippers second-rounder (if it's theirs originally) likely means a high second-rounder, so it's certainly not a throw-away trade. Hopefully, this means that Colangelo is picking up a true starting SG and dropping Parker down into the bench role (which I think would suit him better, anyway).
Incidentally, the Clippers have already waived Adams. Seems Fred Jones wasn't as injured as they thought. So how do you feel if you're a Clippers fan - your franchise just gave away a quality draft pick for a guy you had on your roster for only a few hours. Well, you're probably used to it.

The Adams trade was just to get under the luxury tax for the Raptors. Colangelo had to pay cash to do so. Secondly, it's a CONDITIONAL second round pick, which will probably never come the Raptors way. Think about it...no GM would be dumb enough to deal for a 14 of 14 guy from a roster for a second round pick...just doesn't happen. Basically, the Raps gave the Clips money to take Adams. The Clips didn't just realize this guy stinks and drop him!
As for killing two birds with one stone and opening up a roster spot? I doubt it. The Raptors don't have a star to deal to get 2 players for dealing their one. If the Raps are gonna make a move, it'll likely be a deal where the Raps will have to send 2 players to just get one, and will likely fill the roster with a scrub on a tryout contract or something.

TSN is reporting that the Raptors are in talks with the Heat to trade O'Neal there for Shawn Marion ... he was awesome in Phoenix but apparently his numbers have really fallen since the trade to Miami.

I would do it but I'm concerned about Marion being a bit of a malcontent.

I think Marion would play well for Colangelo, and is exactly what this team needs at the #3 spot.
Bargniani's 3 rebounds in 42 minutes today vs Shaq and Amare is embarrassing.

He was good when he had Nash to feed him easy lay-ups and teams focusing on everyone else.
He has struggled when forced to create offense on his own and when teams pay attention to him.
So long as Marion is getting minutes/points/"respect" he won't be a malcontent. It is only once the team does well because and others are getting the recognition that he seems to pout. He should do fine on the Raptors though as he doesn't care about winning or losing.

The Raptors are an ongoing disaster this year. Kapono travelling and choking. Moon and Graham brain dead. Bosh(AC) is Mr. Anti-Clutch. JO injured all the time. Ditto Calderon. Parker is Jeykl and Hyde. Only Bargnani has made some strides and the only time he gets the ball in the clutch is by accident like when he tied the Boston game.
Time to blow them up. JO must just be grinning with delight thinking he will be the first one out of the mess if the deal goes through.

He's the only guy I've seen be a pro and never break a sweat his whole career.
