Well...I guess the only positive thing I can say about that is at least I didn't have to watch it.

Thought I'd bump this thread again after today's 2nd Tyne-Wear derby.. didn't end the way I would have liked, I thought Sunderland deserved 3 points although Newcastle was much improved in the 2nd; also I thought Newcastle's penalty that tied it up was complete B.S., an obvious dive by Taylor, but we didn't put away all our chances in the first half so that's what happens. Anyways I still think Newcastle are in a lot of trouble, who knows if there'll even be a Tyne Wear derby next year!

Ended exactly as I predicted before the game, 1-1 and not much of a game. At this point I just hope we didn't pick up anymore injuries.

Well Newcastle off to a strong start today, 3-1 now in the 1st half. I know WBA is last in the league but still nice to be winning at this point, hopefully they can pick up 3 points to move further from the relegation zone.
Lovenkrands has his first goal for the club, it has been a while since Newcastle has had 3 goals in a game lol.

Rough day for the Magpies. No one wanted to see this happen.

Yeah but fully deserved. ManU kids won for them and they still couldn't draw. Not even a chance on goal.
I can't see this team even surviving the Championship next year.

Here's a comparison I made with some friends.
Are Newcastle like the Habs?
Both are regional teams.. people who run the team must be from the area be it geordie or quebecqois).
Have loyal/fanatical fan base.
Think their team has a devine right to everything but in reality the team sucks.
---
I do really feel bad for Newcastle fans. In a perverse way, they're being punished for being so loyal. A fan base more sensitive to results in their spending/attending patterns might have forced better management. And the kicker is that it will now be harder for Ashley to sell because the value of the club just plummeted. The one silver lining is that Newcastle isn't loaded with debt yet. They should be able to outspend other teams in the Championship but who they buy will be very important as there will be many holes in that team now.

Yikes, Newcastle down. Kind of fitting for the drama they have gone through this year.
Keep your head up KevanGuy.

Good luck in the championship next year guys. Other than huge rivals, I doubt many people have a good feeling about Newcastle being relegated. Good luck in your quest to get back up.

Devastated. I just cannot understand how they couldn't muster 1 damn goal in a game like this. Pathetic effort today.
The only positives I can see are hopefully clearing out some dead weight and having that fat prick Ashley get what he deserves...though that means we are probably stuck with him for a while longer.

I don't know about the other fans but Newcastle fans after a period of mourning might not be all that upset. It's such a two/three tier thing in the Premier League. So many times you see a team that is forced to just sit in it's own half for the game when they play the big four. Might even half to do that against Villa or Everton or even Tottenham.
At least down a division they should be able to play an entertaining style every game. A lot of teams go down and don't bounce right back up either. They lose a ton of revenue and either lose players or can't sign new ones. They are playing in different stadiums. They are playing some teams who are loading up for a run at the Premiership with new owners with tons of cash.
All in all it might be an exciting season for Newcastle next year.

Should we just continue this thread?
West Brom and Newcastle drew 1-1 to open the Championship season.
Newcastle wore the ugliest yellow away jerseys you'll ever see.
I saw the highlights and Ameobi kicked Steve Harper in the head leading to the West Brom goal. Good to see Shola in midseason form right out the gate.
The reserve keeper than came in and was spectatular!

I thought they were lucky to get a draw. West Brom took it to them for most of the game.

Yeah if it wasn't for Krul West Brom could have had 2 or 3.. Must suck for Steve Harper, first season he starts as number one keeper, gets injured and could lose the spot if Krul plays like that every week.

Steve Harper just cant catch a break...first the wafer, now this....
All kidding aside, the Duff goal was fantastic, and I didnt think it was as lopsided as is being said, I do agree that those Yellow jerseys should be burned.
Also, Tuncay, you arent that good, take your name off the goddamn transfer request list. Viduka too.

All things considered I was pretty happy with the result. Now if only that dick Ashley could sell the club and move on already.
