There are quite a few places that I want to go in the States like Boston, being a Bruins fan I would love to go there during a nice homestand and catch a few games. I would also like to NYC as well.
The places that I have been that I really liked are:
Spokane - It is a really nice, fair sized city. It was very clean and I just loved the feel of the city.
Orlando - We went to Disney World last year for vacation and from what I saw of the city it was pretty nice. I did not get to see the entire city but I rode the bus system to get to some places and it was very nice city.
Minnesota - Felt like home.
Chicago - Just really liked the city and it had a great feel to it. I also have to say some of the best graffiti I have ever seen.

I'm guessing that refers to "UW" (as in U-Dub), which is the University of Washington Huskies (presumably football)

Orlando, Florida
Panama City, Florida
Macon, Georgia
Macinaw, Michigan

Columbus, Ohio

I really really enjoyed Columbus, its a beautiful city, great place to see some hockey too, the fans are friendly and the arena is in a great spot in town.

I was thinking WHL (which is often referred to as "The Dub"), since both Seattle and Portland were mentioned. I'm curious as to what rube was thinking of.

I've been to Miami, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Spokane

Miami has a cool vibe to it. But the whole area is just massively huge. The thing about Miami is it feels "exclusive". Tourists and locals really don't mingle at all there. Nice to visit, but nowhere I could live.
Salt Lake City is pretty blah
Seattle is gorgeous, love the Vibe of the place, plus the Seahawks and Mariners stadiums are awesome. I think that's the only city in the US I could ever move to happily. Also perhaps my favorite radio station in the world is there.
LA is a nice place to spend a few days in, do some tourist things in, but I would never want to live there.
San Francisco just has alot going on, really fun city to visit. Unlike any other city I've visited with the hills and bridges and row houses. I didn't spend alot of time there, but it would be fun to return to for a week or so.
Spokane I hated, seemed really dumpy to me. But they do have Jack in the box (looking for positives)

I've lived in Portland for nigh on 20 years now, and I've thought the same thing many times - it's a great place to live, but I wonder why people visit. It's not very tourist-centered, but maybe that it what appeals to a lot of visitors. Most of what's great about Portland is eating and drinking... not necessarily in that order.

The Portland/Austin connection is pretty strong, though I've never visited Austin, I know many people who have lived in both places and loved both.
