Those are bad things which has played itself repeatedly in communist and socialist countries throughout the 20th Century. I don't think anyone is 'for more pollution,' but rather would like to see solutions that don't involve bulldozing industry, nationalizing anything, or using carbon tax revenues to fund new social programs and income redistribution schemes.

That's a hell of a conspiracy theory you've cooked up there.
Anyway, those phrases are not end goals, they are simply things that human beings can do. They did it a hundred years ago and they didn't need any government control or evil left wing overlords. The idea of "not wasting" covers it all.
We don't need to waste so much, and if we cut out the waste we'd use far less energy and then it's Mission: Accomplished. You don't have to bulldoze industry. Maybe bulldoze the waste industry, but we won't miss it, because it's waste.
The oldtimers would slap us. If my grandpa was alive, he'd slap me for having water here that was bottled 3000 miles away. I wouldn't even be able to tell him what I paid for it. He'd slap my buddy who buys a new Blackberry every six months, my dad for throwing 4 dollar razor blades in the garbage every week, my single pal who drives a 6 seat truck everywhere he goes, my other friend who throws 10 bucks worth of diapers in the garbage every day.
We don't need to do all that stuff. We don't need the government to tell us not to do it. No conspiracy, nationalization or industry bulldozing. And hey, you'll save money in the process. Not exactly a radical-left concept.
