Isn't there a villian named Promethius who is the exact opposite of Batman. A rich billionaire who saw his parents gunned down by the police and became a villian.
And I don't honestly think that Harvey Dent is dead, I think they covered him up and declared him dead so that Gotham wouldn't lose a hero. I'm betting he turns up at Arkham in the next movie.

Yeah that's what I got out of it as well. At the same as Lucious was walking away with sparks flying from the machine , Batman said something along the lines of "Some are rewarded for their faith", and Lucious had a satisfied smirk on his face. I don't think he's done.

But I agree, the cell phone thing was a bit much.

See I thought he said something along the line of
‘I will do it this one time, but consider this my resignation” or something along those lines and that once he put his name he would be done

No, I got that impression as well, but Bruce knew Lucius feel that way, that's why he told him to type in his name when they were done. Lucius did this, and the program shut down with sparks and stuff, leading me to believe that the SOnar thing was done, and that Lucius would be back. The name was a shut down code.

For a third movie I would prefer a more low-key villain my bet would go to Hush
He could easily fit into Nolan’s world. No superpowers or special abilities and is basically Batman’s and Bruce Wayne opposite. I could see Dicaprio playing him and doing a pretty god job.
I think they could do the Riddler as well. A lot of people don’t have the right idea about him because of the way Carrey played him in Batman Forever. He doesn’t need insane or over the top. Just a super-intelligent, a smooth-talking egomaniac who is overly compulsive and obsessed with puzzles, Nolan said that his Joker was inspired by the comic Batman: The Long Halloween in which the Riddler is a central character. Personally I could see Sam Rockwell doing a fantastic job.

Didn't he include the disclaimer: "So long as this machine exists"?

J Pold, don't you think the Riddler would be too soon after the Joker? Both have very similar characters, and the series thrives on variety (Scarecrow and Joker being very different personalities as the main villains). Nolan would almost certainly have to go in a different direction than a guy who obvious has so many similarities to the Joker.
For those who are advocating a new villain, one of the dynamics is that, while Nolan is putting a fresh new spin on the franchise, he ultimately has to cater to the fans of yesteryear Batman. I think it's safe to bet that a large part of why the Dark Knight is doing so well is because fans who enjoy classic batman (thus, older folks) were enticed to see a new spin on the Joker, a character they were familiar with in the past. When I was in the theatre, there was just as many older folks as there were younger ones.
It would be easy to move into characters that are lesser known, but why mess with success? Nolan's Batman series has been hugely profitable with characters that people can recognize, and if done correctly (ex. Heath Ledger), the characters can a huge hit once again. And since there are characters like the Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face (assuming he's not dead), Bane, and others still available, I say go with the tools that are already out on the table.
They still haven't even tackled the Robyn character yet, although I'd be surprised if they did.

Oh yeah I do which is why I said I would prefer a more low-key villain for the next film (if there is going to be one) which is why I recommended ‘Hush’. Not very well known but could easily fit into Nolan’s Gotham. I just think that the Riddler could be a possibility but yes I would wait at least another movie.
Also I just remembered did anyone pick up on that foreshadowing for a Catwoman possibility?
When Lucius gives Bruce his new armor, Bruce asks if the armor will stand up to dogs to which Lucius replies: It'll stop a cat
A stretch I know buy hey

I think that's a big stretch, but made me think nonetheless, but nice job catching that.

Wow, I missed the part that Joker switched the locations on Batman. I just assumed Batman took the needs of the city above his own when he saved Dent
Totally makes sense now =)

Yeah the same thought crossed my mind at that point too.
All I know right now is that this movie is going to be almost impossible to follow up. I can't really see any character being better than the joker was in the Dark Knight. Whatever character is next, the actor has to follow an iconic performance by someone who died young. Its a no win situation. Also, they probably can't just make another character act as disturbing as the Joker again, because it'll just seem like they followed up with the same formula. Nolan is screwed for the next one.

Robin is no Regher. hehe.
Which Robin would they include?
Dick Grayson- kinda corny now with his parents falling to their deaths from a circus trapeze.
Jason Todd- homeless kid Bruce Wayne decides to adopt. He would prob be the best since later on he becomes all rebellious and vengeful. They could have a Batman vs. Robin to the death as the finale.
Tim Drake- uses detective work to figure out Bruce Wayne is Batman. Becomes Robin after Batman fails to save his parents from a voodoo cult. Mom gets killed and his dad is paralyzed.
I'd rather they have Robin in his own movie.

I would love to see Hush in the third. I agree he fits perfectly. I don't think he is popular enough and he would need a main villian to go along with him like the penguin. Or maybe Hush is two-face's surgeon (not for his face but to save his life). Then the two become partners. I'd watch that.

Absolutely.
The character is not dead. No way. You don't spend all movie creating the character only to let him die in a very unimpressive way. All they have done is kill off Dent, which I would assume they could use to further explain his increasing insanity - that is to say, if Dent is dead, who remains: Two-Face. I would imagine that Two-Face will likely be a presence in the next film.

Great idea. I think that the way this franchise has been developed, it pays to stick to the creepier, sadistic villians and stay away from the goofy, over the top stuff.
Hush would be great. Zsasz as well. maybe a brief appearance of a guy like Killer Croc? Not to base the movie around, but perhaps just a brief appearance as Batman kicks his a$$? Like the start of the first Hush story.
But JPold.....Dicaprio? Seriously? Ugh. No thanks.
Make it a guy that has the chops that isn't A-list. Like Ledger was.

As far as the lesser-known and understated villains, I think Deacon Blackfire would be interesting, and fit really well with Nolan's Gotham, where he really plays up the class conflict.

I think Bane would be great as the next villain. Count me in the camp that hopes Harvey Dent isn't dead yet.
