My husband is a big guy, but if he sees a snake he runs like a little girl. One time we were on Vancouver Island at a resort, and after a meal in the restaurant walked through the huge trees to our room. I made a little hissing sound just to tease him and not 2 seconds later a snake fell out of a tree. He is 6'3 and macho, but if I could have had a video of him screeching like a girl and running away and leaving me on a dark path, I could have blackmailed him for years! I don't like spiders but have no problem killing them. Now mice, I would kill myself if mice attacked me! Not that they do, but you get my point! If we got mice in our house, I would literally move out until I knew they were gone.

I hear there are dozens if not hundreds of spiders that crawl into your mouth every night while you sleep, they are atracted by the warmth of your breath, creepy I know....

I used to have a terrible fear of spiders but after moving to australia and having to see big ones on a daily basis, my fear just went away. I don't know how, but now I don't get bothered by them at all. It's just a fear of the unknown I suppose.

I'm the resident spider killer 'round these parts, but one time my buddy and I took a trip in the winter to a water purifier shop (the one by the Taj Mahal on MacLeod) to return a purifier he had used on a trip in Thailand.

We brought it and in, and much to our surprise, a hibernating spider was enclosed! 6 weeks after returning from Thailand, we had foreign fauna in the middle of a Calgary winter. The zoo came in and took it away, but word was it didn't last very long

It was one of these suckers:

Thing was at LEAST half a foot long. Yeesh!

My ex was deathly afraid of them. She'd see them and run to me to get rid of it. I'd usually just scoop them up and dump them outside. She'd then thank me like I'd slain a dragon.

On the same note, I miss my ex =(.

I'm a male, in my forties, and spiders...............whew.

When I was a little guy, we used to summer out in the Okanagan, and I awoke one night in our cabin and I was covered with thousands.....okay, okay, it was dozens....of little brown spiders. Needless to say, subsequent to this episode I didn't sleep very well when we were out at the lake.

A couple of years ago when we were out at Wabamun and northern Alberta had that infestation of ...........were they Wolf Spiders? They were big-ass buggers and messy when squashed. At any rate, one must've gotten into our minivan and on the way home, I flipped down the visor while and was instantly eyeball to eyeball with the ugliest sucker I've ever seen. I nearly wiped out my whole family as I careened between the ditches as my wife attempted to shoo the spider. I spent the rest of the trip in a cold sweat as I waited for Spidey to pounce.

Not even close. The average person consumes only 1-2 spiders per year. They are attracted to your mouth because spiders like warm damp places and your mouth fits the bill. You don't notice because spiders don't cause alot of sensation when they walk on you or at least not enough to wake you up until they get into your mouth where your body's natural reaction in feeling a tickle in there is to swallow.

remember one time camping in the Okanagan, woke up in the middle of the night felt something crawling around, so I turned on a light and there was a spider crawling across my chest. I'm not so much scared of spiders but that scared the **** outta me.
