I heard a guy on the radio saying something along the lines of "This is a once in a lifetime event, I'd give anything to be a part of this"
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!
Dude, it's a store, they sell the same stuff that you can get at a lot of other places, it'll be there tomorrow.
You need to chill out.

I purchased one of the new (4G) iPod Nanos online, so I went to the store yesterday to get a case so I can work out with it. Stupidly, they didn't have anything available at all except those ridiculous looking socks - only in a 5-pack, for $40. We'll make a big deal about the new iPods, but we are not yet selling anything practical to protect them.
Store was packed.

I was there at 8:45 on Saturday morning for a 9:30 opening. We were about 150-200 in line. When the doors opened, I was inside within 2-3 minutes, got a t-shirt (cool shirt).
We live a few blocks away. Would I have gone across town, propably not but we usually head to Market Mall on Saturday morning for a Starbucks... so why not?
I made a purchase and checked out rather quickly with the handheld. Paid debit and they offerred to email the receipt.
In terms of the official opening, they created a good buzz amongst those waiting in line. They had a large amount of employees there, a few dozen I would say. Good experience.
Still had plently of time to tailgate at the Dinos game...

Finally managed to go last night. The wife and I used to live close but now we're on the south end, so trips to market mall aren't as frequent as they used to be. I was able to peruse for about 5 minutes before my wife was overcome by an unexpected wave of nausea. Guess I didn't realize her PC roots went that deep! We had to leave, so now I need to find another reason to get back to market mall.
On the plus side, they had a ton of iphone cases. They even had the iskin evo2 which I've been hunting for a while now. Unfortunately they were only in bright Flames red, which would be cool except that I don't want to be that flashy with the phone. I was also able to show off the apple tv to the wife and drop a birthday hint to her. It was nice actually being able to show her what it does ... apparently i can't explain things properly. We had to leave before anything got too cool, I was concerned she'd puke and I'd get whatever apple product she hit as an early, ruined birthday gift.

It's near the center of the original mall (think back to Joe's Diner, pre 1986 renovations) right across from H&M.

We went looking for it. I had heard it was by the H&M, butI remembered it as HMV. We sat at the HMV wondering if we were going to have to ask somebody when I noticed on one of the glass windows around the corner was reflecting a giant white apple. It was funny ... kind of like a big nerdy bat signal.

Off topic:
The funniest thing I've ever seen happened at the HMV in Market Mall. The girl and I were looking at the signs for that travel place thats directly across from it. It was when HMV used to have those huge clear windows. We heard this huge clang and only my girlfriend, me and another shopper looked back just in time to see a guy reverberate off the glass (leaving a huge forhead stain to boot), shuttle right a few steps and walk out the door. He looked a little dazed and ashamed. He must have been going fullbore, head down and just given'er.
gunna start a new "funniest thing" thread.
