Getting Accardo for Shea Hillenbrand is far and away the best move J.P. Ricciardi ever made. Addition by Subtraction would have sufficed there, but he actually got a very useful pitcher out of that move too.

I agree, but man...

Accardo still makes me so god damn nervous watching him on the mound.

Just think back to when Batista was the closer, than think of how you feel now.....that should help you relax!

Good start by Burnett, if he can throw that change effectively he will have a great year. Barajas did an excellent job mixing up the pitches, and was a big reason the Yanks were shut down, and Vernon had a great game.

McGowan may be a no go tonight. He's going to be a key guy for the Blue Jays this season, if he can move forward and post like 15-16 wins this year that would huge bonus for the Blue Jays. If he can move in behind Halladay and Burnet as a good fireballing number 3 than the Jays will do a lot better than I predicted. Marcum knows how to pitch, but finesse type pitchers like him can get lit up by a team like the Yankees if he doesn't have his location and the ball isn't dancing for him.

I would bet against the Jays, as even a little residual flue is enough for the Yankees to light someone up.

Can't help but get a little excited watching AJ last night and the chance of him being healthy for most of the season.

Since he can opt out of his contract at years end at his option....I can see him winning 18 games having a 3.00 ERA and throwing 230 innings this year. Any pitcher who does that seems to get 18+ as a free agent.

Those are the kinds of little things the Jays need to improve on if they want to supplant the Yankees or Red Sox at the top of the AL East.
This is a couple days late, but give me a break.

You don't play small ball in the 2nd inning. I see the need for it later in games, but the 2nd inning simply isn't time to bunt. You might scratch across a run, but that's hardly worth completely eliminating the chance for a big inning in a 0-0 game.

Well another tough 3-2 loss to the Yankees. That Yankees lineup really wears down starting pitchers as they can get through that order a couple of times but the third time through they seem to get to you. Tough to go into Yankee Stadium and give up 3-2-3 runs against and only come away with one win.

Yeah, 3 quality starts from Halladay/Burnett/McGowan on the road in a tough city is very encouraging to see. Hopefully Marcum can carry that momentum through tomorrow's home opener and even Toronto's record at 2-2.
