Anyone have a ratio of teaching time to prep time?
The reason I asked is because these guys are getting paid 154 dollars an hour for their teaching time. (6k/39 hours)
Also, assume the University only allows you to teach 2 courses a semester, then you teach 2 at mount royal. You do that for fall/winter, plus spring and summer (let's say you only do one for spring/summer) you're making 60k/year.
Further, nothing precludes them working somewhere else part-time being a consultant in whatever field they have their degree in. Assuming they teach 4 courses a semester, I don't think the 12 hours a week of teaching time is going to prevent them from consulting somewhere else.
IF there is not enough work in the private sector to supplement their income, we go back to my original argument which was they should have thought of that before they got a Phd in 12th century Ottoman History.
