This reminds me of Eddie Murphy talking about black politicians in Delirious. Maybe Barrack Obama needs to get himself in shape.

I think a lot of people missed my point. I didn't say no one would try... I said no one actually capable of out-foxing the Secret Service would do it. Gone are the days that large groups with significant power would go after him on the basis of being black with a chance of success. Lets not forget that with JFK, there were some fairly large questions that have yet to be answered, particularly with his Mob ties.

Anyway, those hate groups have been pushed so far from the mainstream, they're fairly weak. Are some angry hillbillies going to want Obama shot? Yep. Will some of them bring their rifle to a Speech? Maybe. Will they succeed? I highly, highly doubt it.

I loved Delirious, and I especially laughed at that scene, as horrible as it was... especially the, "I just voted for Jesse Jackson.... what? he f##king won??"

To be quite honest, I'm surprised nobody has taken a shot at Bush yet...with all the venom and hate out there I would've figured someone would have.

There are so many layers around the president that it would be extremely lucky if you can get at him.

I mean hell, the secret service still collects presidential poo so it doesn't fall into enemy hands.

I believe that the presidential candidates get two complete teams each. One that accompanies them, one that acts as an advanced scouting team for these events.

I guess we don't hear about all the failed attempts. Because I'm sure people have tried.

Just a thought based on the demographics that support Bush.

Really?

So you think anyone who is prone to wanting to kill the POTUS is Republican, white, male, Christian, right wing?

Let me guess, someone on the left, or someone who leans left would NEVER plan to kill the President.

Quite the stretch you're making.

Sounds like a ######ed theory to me.

You're right. Most Republicans support gun control and aren't members of the NRA.

Point being?

Are you saying that Democrats do not support the 2nd Amendment?

Actually, I'll give up. Dig your own grave.

Those two stances make one more likely to be a murderer?

That's a stretch of epic proportions.

Are you saying there's no connection between political beliefs and gun control?

If it's such a stretch why is there an ongoing dialogue in this country (and the US for that matter) about gun control being used to lower crime?

Pretty obvious connection, isn't it?

Yes.

I'm sure there are many, many NRA carrying, 2nd amendment supporting Democrats.

Especially in the Southern States.

You're making the connection that someone who supports the 2nd amendment(part of the Constitution you know)....is automatically prone to be someone that would want to kill the President.

THAT is a stretch.

The way I look at it is that the people against Bush are mostly against him because of the war. They are against the war because they don't believe in unneeded violence and killing. So if they don't much believe in killing, why would they kill Bush?

Are you joking?

You're suggesting that people who oppose gun control do so because they don't want their ability to kill people to be ######ed.

Wow.

Sure, I don't disagree....but I've never seen such hatred and venom toward a political figure. You've got to think one or two out there are loony enough to be consumed by it.

I wasn't suggesting there were thousands of people foaming at the mouth hoping to get a clean shot at the guy.
