I remember the opening ceremonies and freezing my twig and berries off. They gave out stupid rain slickers that I think actually made you colder!

I also went to one fo Finland's games, saw Elizabeth Manley win the silver and watched Eddie the Eagle take flight

I was 14 at the time, my memories mostly consist of the pin trading - that was a lot of fun. I too scored the ABC Camera pin, totally ripped of some dude with a fake $10 Pin set. I also remember walking into one of the bookstores downtown and all the Communist athletes were scoping all the hustler mags, playboy etc. That was freaking hilarious!

The closing ceremonies were even colder!

I went the Finlad game also. Traded a few pins for that ticket.

Eddie The eagle was a treat to watch. You always held a collective gasp as to wether he'd make it or not. He was the hit of the Olymoics as far as i'm concerned.

Liz Manley was awesome. The look on her face after she finished her routine was for the ages.

I agree I think she won the hearts of so many, especially the Calgarians donning the white cowboy hat. It's another one of those moments you'll never forget.

I was in grade 3 at the time... I remember everything was olympic related during that time. Math puzzles were how many medals Canada would have if they won two gold, four silver and three bronze. Learned the French words for all the sports, etc. Social Studies classes were geography quizzes based on whatever nation made news the previous day. The region just went olympic crazy at that time.

And, did you all know that Canada is the only nation to have never won a gold medal as the Olympic host?

I don't remember the song having lyrics (I also don't remember the super-gay outfits, yikes).

McMahon is barely recognizable with all the temporary seats in place.

Does anyone know what Peter Jennings said at the end of the clip after it cuts off here? "You can't help but thinking Jim, after these 16 days, that, though this is a city..."

Something that will be fixed in 2010, and which CODA can take a great deal of credit for. We didn't win a gold in 88, but we sure showed the world how to run an Olympic games.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I remember thinking how much Boitano looked like Balki from Perfect Strangers.

It's interesting how heated figure skating can be. It's something I've noticed throughout every winter games.

It's the drama and the heated competition that makes it worth watching for me.
