Why do people use anecdotal evidence as a counter to arguments from statistics? I'm sure there was the occasional Gremlin owner whose ride lasted 20 years and 750 000 kilometres, but that doesn't mean jack in the bigger picture.

If you're confident in Hondas, try buying in the US. No warranty but you can get a brand new 4WD Pilot for under $22K.

Pretty good promo they have going right now.
.9% +$1500 gas card + 3 months no interest. I'm pretty sure the Pilot is going through a redesign next year. oh yeah the MDX is .9% too.hehe

I was just going to post the exact same thing.

They were crap long before that. Mercedes hasn't made reliable cars for a very long time. In general, German cars are crap for reliability, awesome for most other aspects. My anecdotal evidence backs this up when I just blew a coil pack tonight after having my car for 3 weeks. I knew what I was getting into though...

Back in WWII, German tanks were famous for being technically sophisticated, beautifully engineered, and superior to Allied tanks in almost every way possible - and infamous for being extremely expensive, man-hour intensive to build, and prone to breakdowns and always needing maintenance. That legacy apparently lives on...
