I don't think we'll ever have another Einstein. Most feilds of research have become too specialized and in most cases, it would take years of education to even comprehend where any of the great thinkers are at, or who they even are.
The thinkers who get the most attention are not necessarily the smartest, but they are the best communicators (ie - Dawkins, Gore)
