STP with Weiland would be sweet to see. The Hip are a great band...but their not really the type of "HUGE" band I thought we would be seeing. Didn't Branson say this concert would put Calgary on the map or something to that affect? How does only bringing STP put Calgary on the map? Bring STP, Radiohead and Oasis and that would be something to talk about and people would be driving up from all around to see that show.

Brutal lineup. Severely disappointing. If Scott Weiland can tear the needle out of his arm long enough to show up, they may be alright. I got burned the last time they were supposed to come and they cancelled due to "exhaustion". I was really hoping for some better bands. Hopefully the smaller acts kick ash.

Yup, very disappointing lineup to say the least. I looked at the V Festival in Australia, and they have the Smashing Pumpkins, Duran Duran, QOTSA, Modest Mouse, even Canada's own Hot Hot Heat. Much better lineup.

Misterpants is right though, I guess you'll be paying to see the smaller bands strut their stuff. That said, I think the Sled Island Festival would be just as good then, or even Folk Fest....

That is pretty disappointing.

There are a few bands I'd want to see (STP and Flaming Lips) but there aren't any bands that are going to put Calgary's festival "on the map".

Great, Tragically Hip are coming again...I hope I have a chance to see them...

Loverboy played in the chinook mall a year ago, I think I would have rather gone to see that than attend VFest in Calgary.

Always been a huge Stone Temple Pilots fan, never got the chance to see them before. The Tragically Hip? I own a few of their albums, and they're alright but damn are they boring. Matt Good has become so whiney, the acoustic show I saw a few years ago was horrible. Corb Lund is ok I guess but I was a bigger fan of the Smalls.

So now I'll be buying a ticket just to see one band.

Do we know how much a ticket will cost? I'm assuming you can buy a weekend pass or just a day pass as well, right?

Yeah, no kidding. The Flaming Lips are probably the only band (save STP, and who cares?) band on that list who don't play here once a year as it is.

I've seen the Flaming Lips put on a "festival show" on the television and it does look like quite the spectacle with mascots and bubbles and beach balls and whatnot. I don't know if it's worth sitting there all day and paying a hundred and fifty bucks though.

The Flaming Lips, Stars, New Pornographers, Constantines, The Hip, and the Dudes are reason enough for me to go.

I think the New Pornographers are brutal and I may not go just because I wouldn't want to be within one square km of those losers. Every time I hear them it sounds like amateur hour.

+1 to MisterPants...the smaller bands may be worth the price of admission.

They need to bring Ozzfest here or something like that.

Now that would be cool. A bunch of hopped up violent dope smoking 40 year olds go on a rampage as a shirtless Ozzy stumbles around on stage singing No More Tears in an unedited unrecognizable accent.
