I got Emery as my goalie....Emery and Raycroft.

Should get 70 wins between the 2.

As far as I can tell, here are the goalies that Team CP has:

Bryzgalov
Theodore (WTF, SweetDoc? )
Mason
Legace
Emery
Raycroft
Brodeur
Fernandez
Giguere
Ward
Luongo
Toskala
Fleury
Rinne
Lundqvist
Budaj
Kiprusoff
Harding

Are we missing any Marquee names at all? Backstrom, I guess. Vokoun?

looking over that list... Carey Price is still available.. might be an interesting pickup over somebody like Pekka Rinne, if he makes the Habs.

I had hard time 'not' laughing when Theodore was picked.

Whoosh!

Pretty impressive list though....

I am putting together a spread sheet that has the slected players on each side. HFOilers and CP

I have one question though.

HF-Traktor chose to leave 1 defenseman position empty but Traktor then selected Wellwood as an injured player. So does that mean when Wellwood is backa nd healthy HF-Traktor gets to have 9forwards, 3defensemen and 2 goalies??

I don't know much about pools.

AFAIK, you have to have the right positions on your roster to collect points--so Traktor will have to drop Wellwood and pick up a D-man--and burn a transaction to do so, unless Cerebral can somehow fix it for him.

Ok cool b/c 3 of the Oilers teams did the same thing. I thought maybe it was some sort of loophole that I didn't know about.

Well, I don't know any more about it than you--but I remember that in my other league, one guy had to change his roster, so I'm pretty sure you have to have a legal roster in order to play.

We don't have an IR in any case, do we?

That was me... the extra guy shows up as bench and you have a slot open at the other position. Ergo, you have one less guy actually collecting points. No loophole... so watch for those guys coming through the waivers!

The Oilers fan who said that he calculated and goalies aren't worth anything in this format was either trying to get us to not take goalies or made a mistake. Those of you who got my spreadsheet knew that the top goalies were just about the same as the top forwards in points, and with a way bigger drop between a top goalie and a second-string goalie than between a top forward and a second tier forward, I think we did well to pick them. Especially as a lot of the top forwards are already gone when most of CP started picking. Generally speaking, Oiler fans had most of the top picks. But I got Heatley for us! So well done, CP.

I'm a little confused on this one as well actually. In Oil3rs' case, he has 9 forwards and only 3 defencemen with Comrie on the bench. Will he be able to play Comrie throughout the season or is he essentially stuck on the bench until he replaces him with a defenceman?

If so, does anyone have any thoughts on how to deal with this? I thought Yahoo restricted you from picking over the max players for a position but it appears that isn't the case.

In the other CP pool, we just gave the guy a free drop and waiver pick-up to grab a defenceman. Would this work for everyone if the players on the bench are essentially useless?

The latter.

In my case it was an issue of not understanding the Yahoo interface. I needed a forward, had a forward in my draft box and was looking for a better forwards when my time ran out, and Yahoo took the top defenseman in my queue.

However, I stated this immediately at the draft. Nobody said anything in the chat about anything like this though, so I assume your guys either took calculated gambles ("Well I'll see which forward performs best or rotate forwards - perhaps that's a loophole that should be closed - at the expense of leaving a defense spot open") or made a purely boneheaded mistake (if they didn't even realize it during the draft), in which case it should not be fixed for them (burning 1 transaction isn't the end of the world anyways), just as picking up Niedermayer may have been a mistake. You'll have to tell us, honestly, why your guys have your positions messed up.

If in the end you do get free drops to fix this, then we get free adds for the players you drop. Just as Pagal will surely give you a free drop to pick up Brent Burns, should you ask for it.

I'll just explain the situation to them and they can deal with waivers if they want to. I have no clue why they picked 9 forwards to be honest, I'm guessing they mistakenly thought there was a bench to work with.

There I was thinking that it was as simple as picking 8 forwards, 4 defenseman and 2 goalies...lol

Might be an interested strategy and may actually benefit the oilers side. Seeing as how they can just sub in the extra forward when they want. A forward will most likely get more points then any of the d-men left.

Yep, it actually could make some sense. According to someone on the HF team, he did the same thing last year and it isn't a problem (ie. you can sub the guy off the bench into the lineup). I've never tried it before but it will be interesting to watch.

Good news CP! Hunter74 and I have calculated it. Based on last year's stats our team has a higher average for both 'Fantasy Points' and 'Fantasy Points per Game Played'! So their players better improve more than ours do, or we're going to win this thing!

I'm counting on younger players such as Jeff Carter, Travis Zajac, Phil Kessel etc, etc....to have good seasons.

If that happens I'd be home free.
