"You Light Up My Life" Debbie Boone.
I can remember listening to the TOP 40 countodown every week as a 9 year old praying that something, anything, would remove that song from the hallowed spot at #1. Nothing did, for 16 weeks ( I think)....4 months...that was the # 1 song in the US. 4 freaking months of my musical infancy. Do you realize what kind of damage that can do to a kid? Fortunately I recovered.
Others....
Achy Breaky Heart-Billy Ray Cyrus
Anything by The Spin Doctors equals instant, involuntary projectile vomitting
That's enough for now...I have to work on getting those out of my head now!

I have to listen to Kenny G crap all damn day at work, it just gets worse the more you're stuck listening to it.
|
Geez that's tough. Where do you work, "Gitmo"?
At a place called "Panera"...no idea if its strictly an American thing or not. I guess its comparable to Tim Horton's...a cafe/bakery kind of place. Very much a yuppy hangout, they have to play all that horrific classical music. It makes work even less fun.

No kidding, Kashmir is my favorite Zep song and one of my fav songs of all time! Like Popcorn too, but I have a strange obsession with odd 80's pop hits. The stranger the better. Whip It, Rock Lobster, Shock the Monkey, Da Da Da, etc. All great!
|
I didn't want to pick out the Hansons, the Moffets, and bands like the association. Personally I think that Kashmir was an alright song, but it tried to be to much, and in effect it tried to be long, just to be long. I am a huge led zep fan, but that song just irks me.

Anything by Rush. Good god, do I ever hate Rush. I don't know what it is, but it comes across as a try hard Canadian attempt at a hair band.

I hope you're kidding.
Kidding about what? That I hate Rush? Absolutely not, my friend. Rush kills small children. I know!!! I know!!!

I was just listening to Lager and Ale by Kim Mitchell. Its about getting wasted and picking up chicks at the bar. Kim Mitchell rules. I can picture right now Kim Mitchell with his skinny frame, wearing a neon pink spandex suit and a beach volley ball cap with the beak turned up, surrounded by big breasted women in bikinis with huge 80's coifs. He is playing the guitar while everyone is getting wasted drinking stubbies of various canadian beer products.

Hey fair enough, its all personal opinion. I think I'd have to lump in any Matchbox 20 song on the list. What a girls-only-like-us-cause-the-lead-singers-hot lame bunch of pop-tarts that band is. Wow, I'm really not that angry of a person.....

Sorry guys had to revive this thread after seeing a song about Sponge Bob Square Pants by the Flaming Lips, Disgusting. I had seen them at that Toronto Rocks concert and they were horrible and thought maybe it was just that song, but god that was the most horrid thing I had ever heard.

Whitetown - I could never be your woman.
If anyone remembers that hit from 1997. Horrible, but one of those songs that's so bad you can't help but listen.

The smashing pumpkins on this list twice?!?!
blasphemy...
I would count Tonight Tonight as one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded...
That song along with 1979, Muzzle and Bullet with butterfly wings carved out a hole new empire of music called "alternative rock".
But, I understand that this is a subjective/opinion based topic, so I am not trying to demean or look down upon anyone who disagrees with me when I say...
BLASPHEMY!!!
|
Whole heartedly agree! I don't mind the pumpkins, but I'm not a huge fan...but still, 1979? Wow...this thread borders on worst song ever vs just songs that people don't like so they say they are bad type of thread

In my humble opinion, no rock song, no matter how bad it is relatively within the genre, can be as bad as anything by every single RnB/hip hop `artist`. I just can take it when every time I turn on the radio I hear Ciara and her unbelieveably annoying voice. Not even Good Charlotte can p*ss me off so much.
BTW There is nothing wrong with Offspring and early Limp Bizkit (Significant other and 3 dollar bill plus some Chocolate starfish songs).

My face is a bum!

What about Chumbawumba- Tub thumping
The only good thing that came from that song was Homer Simpsons version:
"I get knocked down
I get knocked down again
You're never gonna knock me down.
I take a whisky drink,
I take a chocolate drink,
And when I have to pee,
I use the kitchen sink."
And how could you guys say that who let the dogs out is the worst song ever?? They played that after Flames goals for atleast one year, so many positive memories associated with that song.
Also.. Self Esteem? That is deffinately one of offsprings best songs. Then of course the smashing pumpkins blasphemy.. deffinately blasphemy.

kim mitchell does NOT rule, and thats why my choice for worst song ever is :
i am a wild party - kim mitchell
maybe we should break it up, worst song by artist from canada, us, england, etc...
there are just too many.
i agree with just about all the comments here except that the pumpkins should not be on this list at all.
