I'm not much of an American politics guy myself, all I care that the "winner" reopens the border to Canadian beef.

How is it that California has more votes tallied than Florida? Some states sure count slow.

Scratch that, it was just a prediction on the cbc site

Then its Bush you want...who made a (half assed) promise to do that, as opposed to Kerry who pretty much rejected that in his platform (IIRC).

Well, I'm off to bed.

NBC declared Washington for Kerry half an hour ago. Now I see that Bush is ahead (slightly) on CNN.com.

That's a good sign that I should call it a night. It's turning into 2000 all over again!

Yeah I know. All it really comes down to me is me being a deep down Kerry supporter. I grow quite sick quite quickly of the American election process, makes me proud to be Canadian.

It goes by the number of people in the state. If you win the popular vote in the state you win the electoral. So you basically want to win like California, PA, NY, Ohio, NJ, Florida.

Update as of 11:40 est. 237-188. He only needs 33 more.

Why do you suppose Fox is the ONLY outlet that hasn't called California for Kerry yet?!?!? Every source out there with the exception of Fox has Cali included in their tally.

ABC has Bush at 237... but if you look at their map online, they've given Florida to Bush (and I haven't seen that on any other network yet).

Yahoo.com has a map, and it has calls and leaning. If you assume (dangerous assumption) the leanings will become calls, then Bush wins with 271.

Yahoo.com has Bush at 237 at the moment, while CNN.com is currently lagging behind a fair bit.

Woops I didn't notice that, there are so results from Alaska or Hawaii, Bush could get potentially more than 271. But with Florida called and the leans going his way, guaranteed at least 271.

ABC. He won florida. If he wins Ohio. Kerry is done. Bush only needs 33.

I don't think Bush has won Florida yet, ABC is the only one saying that.

He's sitting at 237 (source: yahoo.com) with the win in Florida. He has leans in Ohio (22), Colorado (9), and New Mexico (5).
