Tokyo is wicked fun to visit. But I couldn't imagine living and working there, in cramped quarters, working 10-hour days, 6 days a week. Europe would be fun. So laxed. I would gravitate towards Spain probably. As for the States, I think it would depend on the city, but the draw back is the world is not fond of the US. It always seems like wherever I travel, there's a general hate-on for Americans. I don't wanna have that perception on my head heh.

I dunno, I'm Calgarian born and raised, and don't see myself living anywhere else. There's a good blend of cultural diversity, good food, mild weather, diverse climate (deserts, forest AND mountains all lumped into one place), proximity to some of the best skiing/hiking in the world, laxed attitudes, cleanliness. I dunno, it's just an all-round pretty good city.

The newest areas (90% of Taradale, most of Saddleridge, etc) are all brand new but really high density with no real trees. Coral Springs is so cookie-cutter like it is silly.

The NE has definitely earned much of it's rep, but it certainly isn't like Detroit - there are plenty of redeeming attributes and more than a few affordable gems in those areas.

And Kobatuzzied - if the NE was flooded some of those residents would probably end up as you neighbours.
Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't think its the "ghetto", just lots of it isn't very aesthetically pleasing. Like you say, there is good in with the bad.

Definitely the SE is home to probably the ugliest area as mentioned earlier, its just not as dominated by ugly stuff.

My only problem right now is that Calgary is not that innovative or forward in my profession
Pretty much the same for me

The dark days of winter are rough, but the long days in the summer are gold.

Well, being born in Winnipeg, there are a ton of reasons I like it here. Weather, economy, wages, availability of work, NHL hockey, mountains...for me, Winnipeg is simply Edmonton, but with some nostalgia, and closer to lakes.

I'm in Banff, does that count? Born and mostly raised in Calgary. I have some family here, the Flames and my job is going well.
