I really appreciate the feedback, everyone. You've given me a lot of different ways to venture into the consistent water drinking world. I've seen Fiji water in a few SW stores. I'll definitely try that out, as well as the taste improvement techniques mentioned.

As a few of you have mentioned, I think easing yourself in is the key.

Thanks again!

I use the 500 ml bottle of water and the single servings of crystal light. I really like the tangerine flavoured stuff. Helps me up my water quotient.

Might sound like a weird question, but does crystal light ever make your teeth feel gritty? I've always wanted to give it a try.

I can't find that stuff anywhere now. They used to have them at 7-11.
I remeber seeing a news study on that extra oxygenated water, they said it was pretty much BS. I think most of the extra Oxygen escaped when you opened the bottle. I mean water is already H2O you can't really bend the rules of chemistry and add another oxygen molecule. I'm sure someone else on here knows more about this.

Don't get me started on oxygenated water. Bottled water is a scam. Oxygenated water is a SCAM X 1,000,000. People don't have gills.

Oxygenated water (also known as "superoxygenated" water) is offered at hundreds of Web sites. I highly recommend it if you happen to be a fish, but if you have lungs that breathe air, then forget about it!

I'm in the bottled water is a scam camp, I don't like the taste either.

Which is funny because under controlled conditions in a blind test most people could not tell the difference. Most people could not tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi actually!

Try this, get three glasses, have someone fill two with one kind of water and one with the other kind, then leave the room (so they don't contaminate the test). Make sure they're all at the same temperature (colder water tastes more refreshing), taste all three, and identify the one that is different. Call the person back in to get the result. Do it a few times to see how you do. Most people won't be able to tell at all (if you can, you could have a career in tasting!).

I've never noticed it, but I'll go have a glass and let you know.

Also, Ive seen a new flavored bottled water that Gatorade has come out with..it has the same electrolytes that give you energy that are found in the sports drinks (regular Gatorade), but it is water! Not sure if they're available in Canada yet, but Im sure they will be soon.

Water's good for your skin..better than other liquids (especially sugary drinks which just dehydrate you even more).

Im halfway done a master's in nutrition so I could blab about this all day, but I won't....
LITRES! I bought a 4 L jug from Safeway yesterday and am almost done it now.

Several years ago, after a very long day at a trade show, I came home, quickly ate, then awoke in a terrible state. I can't describe it........it was almost like a panic attack. My wife, an RN, thought that I was having a stroke. She packed me into the car and drove me to the hospital. As soon as they put me on an IV, I started to feel better.

The hospital had no idea what was the problem, but my wife came up with the theory that I was terribly dehydrated. Looking back to the day that I was hospitalized, I had nothing to drink other than multiple cups of coffee and maybe a beer or two, drinks that do nothing to hydrate you, quite the opposite.

I had a couple of incidents in the subsequent years, usually if I didn't drink any water and overdid the caffeine, but I've been fine the past couple of years, probably because I've been religious about drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day. I've also totally cut out coffee and haven't touched a drop since June.

I was never a water drinker, usually grabbing the aforementioned coffee or beer when thirsty. I find now that if for some reason I don't drink my water, I wake up the next morning just parched. It's just automatic now....one thing I hate is always having to tap a kidney.

Mango, once you start, you'll be able to keep it up. It'll become second nature. My step-daughter and her boyfriend are getting into water as well, but they're drinking that bottled stuff flavored with aspertame, which I don't consider to be very healthy.

I'm a huge water drinker myself. I don't buy the bottled stuff and drink the tap water. I also like to squirt some fresh lemon juice in my water to give it some taste. At dinner time I take a large beer stein and fill it with ice and add the lemon juice and water. Drink about 2-3 glasses during dinner. I also fill a jug every morning and let it cool off in the fridge.

Good heavens! I used to drink alot of milk in my younger days but never that much. Fond out it was fattening so I cut way back. Although an ice cold glass of milk at the end of the day goes down real good.

I have the same problem. It's not just water though - it is anything. I just rarely feel thirsty (unless I am active). I am constantly dehydrated and get headaches because of it, but I still don't feel thirsty. I have to force myself to drink water throughout the day.

I can't gain weight at all so it's all good. I could eat the unhealthiest food for 3 months straight and I wouldn't gain weight. It's pretty awesome. I'm always going to be 6"0 and around 165-170. Although training with the national program has kept me in shape alot so got to give credit to that.

Dagnamit I hate people like you! I have a good friend who can eat and drink like a horse and not gain a pound. Myself, I have watch what I eat and drink or the inches come on.

And yeah, exercise does allow you eat a little unhealthy at times. Since I joined a gym a few months ago I can indulge in the unhealthy foods from time to time and it doesn't affect my waist line.

I am pretty sure I can gain weight looking at unhealthy food, so I don't much care for people like you.

It does have 10 times the Oxygen but as an added bonus they put 20 times the hydrogen into the bottle as well.

I have given up drinking pop this year so far and I find myself drinking more water, but it is odd that I have these weird cravings for a Coke or a Pepsi at times. I am still trying to figure that one out. This is hopefully as close to detox as I will ever get.

I don't know I just drink water the taste of it never has crossed my mind as when I drink it I just chug it down. Does it really taste like anything?

Probably the caffine in the sodas that has caused your cravings. I too have cut out the sodas and suffer from the occassional craving for a Coke or Pepsi.

Occasional cravings? How about all day every day? Especially if you're an addict like me; I get caffine headaches if I don't have any. You have to get through that first.

I regards to the question on grittiness from the Crystal Light, so far so good. I could see that drinking it all day would likely give you that gritty feeling, but one bottle has not done it.

I went through that over the summer as I was weening myself off sodas. I'm thankful I hate the taste of coffee and don't drink it. Btw you must have been a bear at work with those headaches

Who knew a thread about drinking water could generate so many replies?
