There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
Does anyone remember Owl TV? They used to complete the neatest art projects. I also enjoyed Dear Aunt Agnes, Harriet's Magic Hats, Body-Works and the Edison Twins. Access Network was great
Wasn't that show you're looking for something about a closet/chest full of costumes/objects? They'd pull one out and put it on and then go to the place or something?
What was the half hour Nintendo commercial where the guy used the Nintendo gun and had a Nintendo controller on his belt? All the good/bad guys were Nintendo characters?
Ohhhh, and Captain Power too... and Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Captain N the Game Master
I live and breathe 80s TV. I pretty much know everything to watch it to this day when I can via videotapes or the magic of the internet. Captain N is online at various TV video sites.
I miss so many of the old Educational shows like Square 1 on PBS...and Mathnet teaching me how to break combination lock permutations as a 5 year old or something like that. And wow Kidstreet was on every morning on 2&7, the host was Kevin and their sponsor was Toy & Wheels - a great store but it was a sad day when all the 80s small toy stores started closing because of changing times.
Did anybody else ever watch the Adventures of Brisco County Junior? It was a western/comedy/sci-fi permutation, with a bit of Looney Tunes thrown in for good measure. It was a one-season Fox production sometime in the late 1980s. It was one of my all-time favourites.
Bruce Campbell was and till is gold. They recently released it on DVD. It was my wife who got me hooked on the show after digging out old VHS tapes that she recorded a few episodes. Good times.
Anyone remember sledgehammer (cop that loves his gun). They just don't make shows like they used too.
the last episode he blew up the city trying to defuse a nuke as i recall...
'trust me i know what i'm doing'
there was a zany show on BCTV called 'zig zag', with the 'biff and bart show'. bart went on to become a famous comedian and tv/movie producer (art from 'the burbs' and dozens of little cameos), biff i swear i hear in bad commercials now and again on the radio.
i used to love robotech, and this wasn't on often but captain harlock was pretty choice too. call it early set-in bias but i cannot stand anything calling itself anime released in a long time, maybe everything people try to show me just happens to suck. why do robots have to have stupid childish voices? maybe most anime (used to be called japanimation) is pretty juvenile and i just got too old.
'the highwayman' had that ridiculous australian sterotype guy, with a huge rig that a helicopter came out of rarely. he beat people up and drove around. it was kind of a dumb show but great when i was 10. he went on to fame as a duracell guy for awhile i think...
'prisoners of gravity' is an AWESOME show, sci-fi book discussions, many golden author interviews with reclusive and dark dudes like joe haldeman, guys that got huge more recently like robert j. sawyer, and total cards like harlan ellison (of 'a boy and his dog' fame) and spider robinson. it still shows up on late-night cable now and again for insomniacs, and it used to rerun on booktv. i guess it wasn't aboot flower arrangement books so it had to go.
hmmm... we used to get CBC north and some strange stuff drifted through that network, i used to watch the odd retelling of old antive folk tales - interesting that things like 'brother bear' are from these ancient parables - i enjoy recognizing things like that.

Funny story about that. The show had weak ratings and no one expected it to get picked up for a second season, so the producers decided to end the series by blowing everything up. Then, ABC surprised everyone by picking it up for a second season. Since they had destroyed the city, they set the second season five years prior to season 1.

I liked Highwayman. It was like a cross between Knight Rider and BJ and the Bear.
The crazy Aussie was Jacko. His main claim to fame was that he was a former Aussie Rules footballer who said "Oi!" all the time. I believe he was the last spokesman that Energizer had before the Energizer Bunny.

Or else a green bucket of slime would fall on you! hahah. I remember that show. Thinking about it now, it kinda seems stupid, but I LOVED it back then! Wasnt one of the main characters on that show Alanis Morissette (as a kid) or someone else that's a famous Canadian?

Yes, Alanis got her start on You Can't Do That...

A lot of these aren't really all that obscure so I tried to get really obscure with two that I remember..
Hard time on planet eart - about an alien military hero who comes to earth with a floating eyeball who I guess is his parole officer or something... He had all these super powers, but hilarity ensued because he knew nothing of earth... It wasn't really a kids show I don't think, wasn't a cartoon.. Apparently it was on CBS, and I remember it being on later in the evening...
AND PERSONAL FAVOURITE!!
The Inhumanoids - About these 3 giant monsters, one was a lava type guy (metlar), one was like a giant plant type monster (tendril), and one was a giant decomposing monster (d-compose).... There were four guys with robot suits who fought them... The TOYS were amazing! The monsters were huge.... Or at least they seemed huge... I had the metlar toy, he looked like a giant satan!!! So good..
There was one show I used to watch that for some strange reason I loved but I cannot remember the name of it. There was a witch who would always concot a brew and she'd throw all sorts of things into it, I remember she'd always put butter in it (don't ask) .. there was also a Werewolf D-Jay (I believe it was a werewolf) and when he would play music there would be weird looking guy (maybe the werewolf? - can't remember) dancing really stange with the cheesiest background & the cheesiest dance moves. ... There may even have been an old guy with a creepy/scary voice - can't totally remember and maybe I'm thinking of something else.
Anyway, like I said, I used to love that show and would watch it all the time. I was only 5 or 6 at the time so it would have been around 1982 but was probably around earlier than that. If anyone can figure out what show I'm talking about, I'd love to know the name. It would be funny to see if I could look it up and watch it again just for laughs
This is "The Hilarious House of Frightenstein"..I had no idea that the same actor played most of the same characters or that Vincent Price filmed all his segments in one summer. http://www.frightenstein.com/

Ah, yeah, that's it. I knew it was something Wonder.
It really was weird and creepy when I think back about it. The way that she had a control panel or whatever on her back that they all fiddled around with... very odd. Lots of odd crap on Tv in the 80s.
I thought it was more annoying than creepy. That brother of hers, I really wanted to smash his pudgy little face in. I watched it every Saturday.
Anyway, speaking of creepy, this is sort of off topic but interesting nonetheless. A woman named Edie Mclurg had a bit part in Small Wonder. Some of the geezers may remember her as "Herb Tarlek's wife" on WKRP. Check out the first paragraph of her IMDB biography.
Biography for Edie McClurg
Mini biographyEdie McClurg began her performing career at age five with the oxymoronic Kansas City Rhythm Kids. She retired when the dance teacher was arrested on a morals charge for "dating" the tall and lissome, yet underage, star dancer in the troupe. That girl's big number culminated with a back-bend where Edie drank a soda upside down (of course).
Some of the geezers may remember her as "Herb Tarlek's wife" on WKRP.
WKRP is my favourite sitcom of all time. If they ever are able to release it WITH ALL THE ORIGINAL MUSIC INTACT, I will line up outside the store to purchase it.
- phone cops
- the turkey drop
- Scum of the Earth
- Jennifer's doorbell chime
- Gordon Simms
- WKRP Karp
- Hirsch!
It was all great.

I used to love the Dungons and Dragons cartoon. I thought that really good.
I also loved the grown up shows of A-Team, Airwolf and Knight Rider. Man I loved those shows back when Mr. T and the Hof were cool.
Also another one was Alf, the furry little alien from Melmac.
I am really sure that there are more but I cannot think of them now.
